Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • My new Equinox - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

I purchased a base Equinox in 2005 and thought it was great, but needed a bit more power. I just upgraded to the sport model which has 90 more hp and other upgrades as well. I would recommend this car to anyone in the market for a small - medium sized SUV.

We bought our Equinox 12/17. So far it has exceeded all of our expectations. We filled up at half a tank and we got 32.1 miles per gallon. I have never bought a car that actually got the gas mileage advertised. These cars are hard to find but well worth the wait. I never thought I would buy another GM car so I am surprised at how well built the car is.

For the money it is the best midsize crossover vehicle period. Easy entry exit. I have a bad lower back. Great view when driving. Very comfortable. A lot of room. Great engine, transmission, brakes. Prefer old style steering. Electric steering is kind of numb, vague. Not good road feel like traditional steering. Would like to see 6 speed automatic and engine with more horsepower and torque. I get a lot of compliments. Mine is ruby red.

  • Nice Midsize SUV - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Overall, very glad to have traded-in a low-mile Acura for this new SUV. Performance is nice because torque peaks early; keeps the engive from having to work hard. Smooth, quiet, and the electronic assisted steering is very easy. My wife really enjoys the entertainment system and I feel comforted from the safety options, crash ratings, and OnStar satellite support system. Wife gets 16MPG city and almost 25 highway, not me.

  • No problems so far - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We hesitated buying a first-year NOX, but we have had zero problems. Just regular maintenance. Not thrilled with gas mileage, but is average for SUV of that size, so cant complain too much. I have the LT, all-wheel-drive. It does well in snow. My wife loves the color (laser blue metallic). Lots of folks say it look like some model of Lexus. Interior is nice - love the sliding back seat. Leather looks great but is thin. We are careful with it. Worst complaint is turning radius is atrocious, and the paint looks great but is also very thin, scratches very easily. Overall, very satisfied.

  • Much better than Dodge - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

The ride in the Equinox is very smooth - the suspension is great and it drives like a car. I was also surprised coming from a much larger engine that the smaller V6 still has a lot of get up and go. In addition, Im getting 25mpg highway and 21-22 city. To me this is the best feature especially since the gas tank holds 20 gallons - which I think it kinda big for this size SUV. Anyway, its nice to be able to go over 400 miles on one tank. I just started a carpool at work, and the Equinox easily fits 4-5 adults - especially with the rear seat set back.

  • LOVE IT - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Absolutely love my new Equinox - as to the comparison to the Saturn VUE, I owned a Saturn and would never own another. I had a horrible experience with the car and the customer service was equally as bad.

This is a very good SUV for the money. It handles well in snow and rain and gets decent gas mileage. It rides very smooth and looks good too.

  • I love my Equinox! - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

I needed more room and traded in my Chevy Malibu 2004. I love the versitility and space. It drives great and handles even better in bad weather with traction control.
