Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • My husband goes a lot - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

This car has really give us the room and quality he says you can only expect in a Chevy. Leg room in the back seat is excellent. Hes an insurance claims adjuster and the cargo area has on the space he will need for the mounds of paperwork and file systems he has. And vacations are easy to load up for in this car. I guess you can tell my favorite feature is the room.

The Chevy Equinox has been a great car for me. I am a detached insurance agent and this car has givin me plenty of room and comfort. It has a pretty great stereo system for those time that I have been in traffic jams and not had much to do. It gives me plenty of room in the cargo area for both my filing boxes and my luggage, and for the size of the car the fuel economy isnt bad at all. All around it has been a great car for the business man and his family.

I bought the car when changing positions to sales from engineering. I work for a company that builds light-weight campers and I needed something that would pull up to 3500#. The Equinox does a great job and my gas mileage is very impressive. It is a great looking vehicle with somewhat futuristic looks and it compliments the unusual campers we build. Without having any trailering experience to speak of, I have successfully navigated over 10,000 miles with ease. On one of my trips I left 11:30 at night in a storm with 2" of snow already on the ground while towing a 1600# camper. The traction control was awesome even through the winding mountainous back roads of Western Pennsylvania.

I drive over 35,000 ml. a year, so we only keep our vehicle about 2 years, will be 2 in October, has 58,000 miles on it, and we have put a new EHR valve, new gas cap, new igination switch (which I think is going out again) Runs good except there is so many noises and rattles your constantly wondering if its going to break down. Seats just keep showing new stains, ones Im not even sure we made. In wind sounds like its going to fall apart. Transmission shifts wierd. I like the fact that its not a van but more than a car. Love look on outside, inside is cheap quality. Gas mileage ok approx 20 to 24 all the time. Doesnt do sharp turns. Would not recommend to anyone. 1st and last time Chevy owner.

Everthing is fine except for the mileage 14.8 to 15.4 in the city have not had it on the highway yet. Will take it to the dealer to see if what they can do if not will complain to the highest levels, Why do some get excellent mileage and others do not?

Very pleased weith vehicle, alert and steady. Since using MOBIL 1, mileage is respectable at around 19 +, with a few extra PSI in the 18" tires too. The paint and overall appeareance of the car is snazzy. Could use a few grab handles and more storage pockets.

  • Equinox is great - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The Equinox is a spacious mid-sized SUV that has enough horsepower to go when needed. The style gets noticed, and the interior design maintains the respect gained from the initial connection. The ride is very comfortable and smooth. The only thing that I would like is better gas mileage. I have been getting about 16 to 18 miles per gallon. I am still under 6,000 miles though.

  • Worst car buying decsion ever - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Had an excellent experience the frist few months then all the problems began causing a lemon law to be filed. Brakes repaired 4 times, radio replaced, speakers replaced, leak around gas tank, ignation replaced and power outlets not connected (replaced). Dealing with GM has been and is one of the most difficult and fustrating experiences I have ever had. Needles to say I will never buy another GM and will encourage anyone else to do the same.

I purchased this vehicle as a work vehicle and have been surprise by the performance and mileage. Miles from town and in the dead of Kansas winter, I have busted through 2 snowdrifts. Then in the spring with the snow melting, I have slip-slided a full mile on a minimum maintenance road at 3 to 5 MPH. I dont recommend this as several times I thought I was going to end my adventure in the ditch. I only wish Chevy had spent more money on the paint used on the dashboard and where did they get the material they used on the seat covers? Spill water on them and they stain! All in all for a used vehicle with 36k on it and $16k Im really satisfied. It now has (8 months later) 57k on it.
