Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Fun but already falling apart - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I havent had my Equinox very long and I do love it but am already dealing with some issues. The leather seats are already tearing apart on sides. The paint around the radio buttons and window buttons are chipping off. Every time I open my sun roof gresse gets on the fabric. When you roll window doiwn just a tad the noise of wind is awful. You cant even hear someone next to you. And the back seat ride is so hard and awful to ride in.

  • V-6 2010 Equinox LTZ, 4-wheel drive - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

This is the best GM car I have owned. Most of my driving is highway. In 2 1/2 months, according to the trip computer I am averaging overall 23.5 mpg. The car is a dream to drive, I love the XM radio, On Star navigation, information center and phone, the quality of the leather interior and overall fit & finish. If the cargo area were larger it would be perfect.

  • Love it! - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

This is my second Equinox (first was an 05.) I loved my first, but wanted a remote start plus some of the other new features. Im getting 20.5mpg mixed driving, straight highway I get 29-30mpg. Remote start is great, as is the XM and OnStar. I miss the cargo shelf in my 05, but the space thats freed up is really nice. I dont care for the double cup holder in the front. If you pull up the emergency brake, you cant put a drink on the left side. Also, the air will not stay on the recirculate setting on certain vent settings, and reverts back to exterior air when you re-start the engine.

  • Wow... an SUV thats light on fuel - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I have driven 1000 miles so far and I cant believe the fuel efficiency from this SUV! With good driving habits I am getting 18.5 in the city and 30 on the highway. I avoided purchasing an SUV because they are typically gas hogs. This has the perfect mix of MPG/HP/Torque. Its 3500lb towing capacity pulls my camper with ease. The ride is just right. Not squishy like a minivan, but not too truck like either. The steering is not real responsive and takes a few miles to get used to. Once you are accustomed to the feel, you will enjoy its light touch and accuracy. The spare tire is stored inside the SUV keeping it from weathering. The stereo is a bit flat, but acceptable for factory.

Without question the most comfortable car Ive ever driven. Lots of cargo space, storage space, leg room. Smooth ride, look forward to seeing how it handles in snow.

  • Year Round Sports Vehicle - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

I previously leased a 2006 Trailblazer and while I liked the room, the fuel economy was bad and it handled slow. Being 28, I wanted a sports car, I wanted an SUV, I needed something smaller and I wanted AWD for the winter. The result was the Equinox Sport AWD and I couldnt be happier. Very fast, very comfortable, tons of room and a comfortable back seat, sporty, cool looking and a great premium stereo system (unlike the Bose from the TrailBlazer). Overall, Im very happy and I couldnt of made a better choice that fit me year round in an environment that has extreme weather of the summer and winter.

  • This truck is roomy in the inside - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

May 2008 has just been a year from the purchase of my truck. It is great! Very roomy in the inside and a lot of lerg room in the back seat. Lots of cargo space. It doesnt seem that big from the outside but when you get in, its big. It was enough room for a third row in the back. I love my truck and thank God he blessed me with it and it was brand new with 0 miles when I purchased it. Its just a gas guzzler to me.

  • Sporty SUV - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Ive had my Equinox for four months now and am very pleased with my purchase. I test drove practically every SUV in the class and the Equinox came out on top. I came close to buying a Rogue, but the interior was cramped and lacked features. I am partial to the exteriors of the RAV4 and the Ford Edge however, they are also lacking in the features department (at least on the basic models). The Equinox comes with a lot of bells and whistles for the price. I love the OnStar feature and the information screens. With one push of a button, I can check my oil life, tire pressure and remaining gas mileage, etc. The fuel economy isnt bad for a vehicle its size. Overall a great purchase.

  • Great First SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This was my first SUV. I fell in love at first sight. My NOX performed great during recent snow storms. Great family SUV and fun to drive. Its been seven months and Im still in love.

  • Great Plus Size SUV - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We upgraded to the leather interior because the cloth interior was less comfortable and did not look like it would last long. There is lots of room in this SUV. We are getting 25 mpg plus right off the show room floor, that includes a 50-50 mix of city and highway driving. There is very little road noise on the inside while driving. Vehicle handles well and has more than enough power with 6 cylinder engine. The report of the cup holders is accurate, they are pretty chintzy. The lever for the steering wheel adjustment is also more difficult to operate while driving. Wish the rear hatch had an automatic open with the key chain, the gas cap door had a lock.
