Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Still Not Sold - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought the Equinox brand new with 0 miles in Feb 07- coming up on 2 yrs of owning it I still have mixed feelings. It handles horribly in the snow, even with the AWD feature. Its been extremely reliable other than 2 factory recalls (winshield & airbag) the stereo isnt that great, buttons are breaking off, engine knocks even w/ regular oil changes. It has a hard time getting up steep country hills. Very sleek vehicle. Its black. Decent gas milage. Needs a bigger trunk and the hatch is heavy and slow to open. Its ok for now but Im already looking at buying something else for winter. Its good for summer driving. I wouldnt purchase another. I think its too costly for the quality of it.

  • Great Mini SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I drive my Equinox 150 miles at least a day. I have had no problems to report. My wife and I love to get into the Equinox and driving. The vehicle does ride a little loud and has a big turn radius. But coming from a truck and a Buick station wagon the turning radius really isnt an issue. My biggest complaint is the gas tank being on the passenger side.

  • I like it better than our CRV. - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We love the new 2010 design. Great features for a smaller SUV. We love all the options you get for your money. We had a 2004 CRV and had NO problems with it in 100,000 miles, but this feels like a Caddy compared to the Honda.

  • Dual control ac preserves marriage - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We were intending tp purchase equinox, but nothing on 4 cylinder offered dual control ac. One of us prefers 60-65 degrees, while the other prefers 70-75 degrees. We decided that was essential looking toward our next 45 years. So we chose Ford Edge SEL

  • Pretty good vehicle - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Overall I am well satisfied with my Equinox having owned it for over a year. Have had no mechanical problems yet. Very comfortable and good on long road trips. Gas mileage good on highway-not so good around town. 17 inch Bridgestone tires will hydroplane in a heartbeat in heavy rain. Scary! Interior planning could be better. Rear seat doesnt fold flat and front cupholder interferes with hand brake. Rear cargo curtain is a joke. Dont waste your money buying it. Decent vehicle so far, but still not the quality of my 2000 Volvo. Detroit still cant get it right.

  • Problems Already! - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I have had this vehicle 1 month and it has been in shop 5 times and still has rattle when I hit bumps. It is getting 14.3 mpg in town and I am told that is normal. It rides great if I dont hit any bumps. It is roomy and I like the way it is arranged inside. All in all, I need to get rid of bump and get better gas mileage or my next vehicle will be another Toyota!

  • Stylish and comfortable! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I have only had my Equinox for 2 weeks and I love it. I have everything in my Equinox that it could come with and can say its very comfortable. From the dimming mirror to the leather seats, etc. There is nothing that I dont love about it. Not only is the vehicle nice inside but it also handles well around corners and on the road. Chevy did a really good job on this vehicle.

  • 2k05 nox A+++ - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

It has been a pleasure to drive with very easy features to use. The only negative is the wiper set up on the column and the storage bin takes up to much space in the rear

  • Good so far - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Was reluctant to buy a first year model, but have had it four years and 34,000 miles with no problems at all - just regular service. Have the top-of-the-line model with AWD. Live in northwest PA, and it does really well in snow. Have the laser blue metallic with gray leather. Mileage got better over the years - is now about 24 mpg highway. Really lousy turning radius. Front end is noisy - everything sounds loose. Paint is thin and leather is not high quality. Price was good for a good looking AWD crossover. Great sunroof. So far, cant beat it for reliability.

  • Wouldnt recommend the Equinox! - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I purchased my Equinox in June of 2006. A year after puchasing it the back door areas were all chipped up and Chevy painted it for me as a good will. However a year later and its chipped again. I have had to have the seal around the drivers door replaced. The seats are horrible, if you get even a drop of water on them it leaves a mark. The center console is cheap and pretty much useless. I heard a noise when I start it but can never be duplicated when taken to the dealer. I have recently noticed that when going up hills there is a hesitation and again the dealer cant duplicate. And now it is not always starting right away there is a hesitation.
