Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

I just traded a 2002 Ford Explorer for this Equinox and Im loving it! I can still hardly believe I qualified for one, but I did! It is such a cute, roomy SUV for my family and I. I cant wait to take it on a road trip and see how well it does. I love how much lower to the ground this vehicle sits, it makes getting kids in and out easy. There is a ton of leg room in the back, even when my 6 hubby is driving. The sliding back seat is great, along with the purse cubby under the front center console. A very basic vehicle, but still enough extra little things to set it apart. What really caught my attention was the crash test ratings. So very important when driving with little ones.

The Equinox is a very smooth riding suv. It has plenty of room and it is very comfortable ride. Driving around obsticales in the road is great as it responds quickly and hold the road well. We wanted a suv like this so that my wife and dogs can drive around the country comfortably. We recently completed a trip between NY and Las Vegas and it was great. Check it out.

  • Great Car for the Money - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

I purchased this vehicle 1 year ago and it has been great! I drove 4200 mile this winter on a road trip and got great mileage (22.5 overall), had more than enough room for all my luggage, Christmas gifts and a chair that I delivered along the way! Very comfortable ride and it fits my husband with room to spare. Minor issue with climate control system, fixed by dealer.

  • Wish it would blow up - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I read all these reviews and I cant even sit here and say wow that doesnt happen to mine. From the struts going when i first had it, how uncomfortable it is, cheap interior, cant stand the window controls, noisy ride, terrible on gas I dont even get 200 miles a full tank. Im constantly at the dealership. Overall I just hate this car. It was my first ride i loved the look of it but after driving it for a while Im 19 with back problems already. The only thing good about this car is it handles great in the snow. All they need to do is fix up all of its problems which it would end up being a totally new car and it would be a nice ride.

  • Dumped the Pickup for the SUV - 2009 Chevrolet Equinox

Quite a difference going from a Dodge Quad Cab to the SUV, but it was time. The Equinox has everything I was looking for, power, handling, room, looks, etc. After the 1st week (7 days)of ownership, I still had gas from the full tank I left with from the dealership! The 0 to 60 in what feels like 5 seconds really comes in handy when entering the highway in Houston, its like hitting the "nitro" button! The steering is quite tight and responsive.

My wife and I recently traded a 2006 Grand Caravan for a 2009 Equinox 2LT. We wanted something a bit smaller and more modern and the Equinox really fits what we were looking for. The styling is great. The controls are far more advanced than GM used to put on their vehicles. The handling is tight. The seats are comfortable. We totally happy with this decision. We looked at many of its competitors, and liked the Equinox the best by far. Anyone thinking that GM still doesnt make vehicles that consumers want should take a look at the Equinox.
