Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Very Good - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

After more than fifty years experience driving many types of motor vehicles, I can sincerely state that in all aspects, this is the best one for the price. Had it two years, and not one complaint. My wife loves it also.

  • Love It! - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

This is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have only had my Nox for about 4 months and I was recently rear- ended. I was so scared to get out and see the damage. I was shocked to find a few scratches - the rubber part of the bumper holds up GREAT. Wonderful in the snow and I have the basic model. Great room & sound. Im getting ready to trade up to the LT Model. I get lots of compliments on this vehicle.

  • Fun to drive! - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

The 3.4 litre engine is peppy and responsive, gets up to speed quickly and handles well in traffic, builds RPMs fast, good bottom and mid range. Very roomy, especially in the backseat and storage areas. Center console is not layed out all that well, radio controls are confusing, overall has a fairly cheap and plain look to interior. Seats are very firm, but supportive, the huge windshield gives good visibility. Exterior is very attractive looking and is on par with other more expensive small SUVs, the sunroof is a nice option for the modest price.

  • A Great Investment - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

This is my first SUV to own, and I will never drive anything else! The Equinox has great room, and feels like you are driving a car. Not to meantion the motor is very quiet.

  • Bad Design no help with problem - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Rear doors fill with rain, dust, snow, dirt when going down road. When doors are opened the fender wells are covered with dirt, dust, snow, water making it impossible to use rear seats with out getting clothes ruined..Dealer wont correct nor will G.M. Sorry!

  • Switching SUV - 2009 Chevrolet Equinox

I found this SUV to be a good alternative to my 2003 Lexus RX 300. It has good room and handles well. It seems to understeer a little but no problems. Its functional even though ite interior quality is a little inferior. Splash guard below door extends out too far and interferes when exiting.

  • Just Purchased - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Reason: cars are a challenge for my knees, getting in and out. Also we (mom and son) are 62 and 65, so we needed leg room. It drives nicely and I spoke with other Equinox owners who had nothing but nice things to say. Everybodys experience is different, but so far Ive driven to work and back and the ride is smooth. I will have good gas mileage since my travel to work is mainly highway. Time will tell if I made a good decision.

  • Aggravating Equinox - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Have had auto for 3 months and have had to have a battery jump several times already. This vehicle has problems with windows going down on their own resulting in rain and snow to enter. Also at times does not allow you to lock vehicle so shopping is a problem. Mileage is very good, even in city driving. Ride is stiff and interior looks cheap. Remote start is aftermarket done by dealer and has problems. Starts at random and kills battery as radio and wipers continue to run until battery is dead. Should have bought a different auto from another mfg.

  • Great suv for mileage - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Highway gas mileage is 34 mpg in eco mode, Over all 26 mpg. Handling is great at all speeds. Comfort on the road is outstanding. Power of 4cyl is fine, much more power then I first thought. Seats are very comfortable, the ride is a little stiff but holds the road sound. I am very pleased and have not found any problems in the first 3000 miles. General Motor is back to #1 with this winner.

  • But for poor mileage, nice vehicle - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Seat belt latches placed too inconveniently close to center storage/armrest. Hard to latch up and thus discourages use thereof. Mileage not too good with air conditioning running and AWD. Average about 15 in city driving. Could be better. Visability improved. Storage in rear improved. Comfortable ride and like a passenger vehicle and not a truck. Easy entry and exit. Seating ergonomics good. But, power seat does not have seat back adjustment in power mode. Lack of foresight by engineers. Minor problem but for some short person may be a problem.
