Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Never A Doubt About My Purchase! - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I purchased my Cardinal Red 2LT 4cyl FWD NOX with sunroof, jet black leather & auto lift gate on October 2nd. The car is beautiful (LOVE the ambient lighting) and handles just as I had expected. The stack buttons were a little overwhelming initially, but now are very easy to use. I am glad I went with the 2LT instead of the 1LT as the fog lights, leather, premium stereo & auto climate control are worth the extra $ to me. The 4cyl has plenty of power on the interstate and Im loving the 27 mpg while driving around town in Kansas City. Do not overlook the Equinox because its a Chevy. Even the most skeptical will be very surprised with what they find in the new 2010 NOX!

  • Safe and fun to drive - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

I took my pregnant wife (8 months)to the car show and we spent 4 hours trying out nearly every SUV and minivan made. Fortunately we both loved the Equinox with its style, safety rating, and overall flexibility. My wife could no longer fit into her Ford Escort and she absolutely loves the new Equinox. Our baby boy also seems to like it, spending long car rides sleeping in the rear seat. The cup holders are ok, and the window controls take a little getting used to (location). Overall it is a good value and a sensible car to start our family in.

  • Disappointing! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I fell in love with the sleek style, beautiful on the outside..but thats as far as it goes! After having this vehicle for 2 weeks I began experiencing problems my car wouldnt start! It would turn over but wouldnt start completely then stall out. I took it to the dealership and they "couldnt figure it out" 6 visits/7 months later they still dont know whats wrong? The worst part about it-the fact that in my most recent visit the was one towed there another sitting there waiting to get fixed with that same problem as mine! Besides the starting issue, my car will not reverse,breaks/roters grind(didnt need to be replaced), car dings even when keys arent in the ignition!

  • Company Car with 65000 miles in 2 years - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I have had my company car since January 2005 and absolutely loved driving it. I put on 65,000 miles and just replaced the tires. Had an initial clunk from the front at 15,000 miles which was replaced. No further issues to date.

  • Luv my" Nox" - 2009 Chevrolet Equinox

My whole car shopping experience was done on line. I read all test drives and owner reviews of several vehicles. I used Edmunds calculations for a fair deal. Eliminating vehicles one by one, I was down to the Equinox. It was love at first sight. I test drove it and we were "one with the road immediately". I have taken several trips in complete comfort. I have to admit to being a senior citizen and thought I was going to have to give up night driving. The Equinox puts me slightly above the lights of most oncoming traffic and I have no trouble at all now. The all around vision is very good and the size is perfect for me. I bought the Silver Ice. Love this vehicle! Highly recommended.

  • Stay Away - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

This is a love-hate relationship. We bought the car because it was (1) quiet, (2) roomy and (3) cheap and it still is all of those thongs, with the emphasis being on "cheap". Mechanically this thing has been a disaster since the day it was bought. Its been in the shop 11 times (not counting regular service), has had both front wheel bearings replaced at separate times, front brakes redone three times, emissions system fixed, tires replaced because tread blocks were falling off, engine is hard to start and other various engine trouble lights and wheel vibration problems. I will never (repeat NEVER) buy another GM vehicle and have filed a Lemon Law suit against them.

  • Excellent Car - 2009 Chevrolet Equinox

Traded in a 2006 Equinox for the 09 Sport. Great road manners for everyday driving, has the power to pass when needed. Great Pricing, would highly recommend this car.

  • My Last Chevrolet - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We were impressed by the looks of the Equinox. We have had no mechanical issues. We have had many other issues, which made me vow that this is my last Chevy. When traveling on the interstate the road noise is awful. The AC noise is really loud also. We had to have two of the rear seatbelt latches replaced because they didnt latch. A strut on the hatch went out. The interior is very cheap. Water stains the seats. When you follow the instructions in the owners manual on how to clean the interior, it just looks worse. Had to buy seat covers to hide the stains.

  • Very Nice - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

First time buying a new car. My wife needed something more reliable and we both loved her Montero. Found this at our local Chevy dealer and liked it rom the first test drive. Have drove it for a few months and have no real complaints. Love the seating and cargo area. VERY roomy in the backseat. The gas mileage is getting better every month with the more miles on it.

  • Equinox - spirit style and spunk. - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

The car is very responsive and a delight to drive. Im quite tall and have above average sitting height, but the Equinox offers plenty of room. We have experienced some inclement weather snow ice and wet roads, but the AWD seems to give you good traction. I like its futuristic styling; it tells you right away that its all new and ready for the road.
