Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

It is without a doubt the best buy of all vehicles in this class. Value, money, quality. Enough said

I drive about 125 miles a day when I am working. I appreciate the pickup when driving on the freeway. I have experienced some transmission "jerk" on a quick acceleration - ie. getting on the freeway/passing on a double lane road. Satellite radio is a must for me as well as the heated seats.

  • Awesome new car - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

This was my first SUV and I could not be any happier. It handles very well in the snow and the gas mileage is pretty decent. I get a lot of compliments on my car from many different people. It is overall a great new car to buy.

  • Even I was surprised! - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

I was skeptical of the reviews of the Equinox from this website. I debated between the Trailblazer and Equinox, but under pressure to trade my very undesirable Honda CRV, I took the plunge and bought the Equinox. Ive had it now for 16 months and 22k miles. This car beats the CRV hands down. It is much more comfortable, has more power, has a smoother ride, roomier, much quieter, and the gas mileage is actually comparable. Glad I traded the CRV and didnt get the Trailblazer. Problems: Ive had to replace two batteries and the radio (all under warranty). I dont know why the batteries are being discharged prematurely.

  • love it. - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought my used 2013 equinox in may 2015. Had it almost 1 year. I love it. There are a few things I would like to see changed in future models. Like rear seat climate control. That would be great for the Arizona summers. Also rear seat audio headphone port and dvd. Also a usb port right up near the stereo. Another thing, the seats dont go down low enough. Im 5.7, and I would like the seat to go down lower. But even with the above mentioned suggestions, I really love this car. I love the electonics. The size of the seats. The room in the car is great. I love being a bit higher off the ground. The cargo space is great. Smooth ride. Nice interior. But like I said the biggest negative for me is that the 2013 doesnt have rear seat climate control. So my rear passages nearly have heat stoke when driving with me during the Arizona summer. It takes about 20 minutes until the air conditioning makes its way to the back seat. And usually by then, we are already at our destination. I researched and I dont believe the newer models have rear climate control, but I could be wrong. If they dont, they need to add it. If Chevys engineer/designers lived 1 summer in Az, they would definatly add it.

  • Problems - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

My car has 30700 miles on it and I have had the brakes replaced now the ABS and TC light is on constantly. I also need new tires. The car is roomly but I shouldnt be having these problems with this low mileage. There is a lot of wind noise also.

Ive owned my nox for a year. Over all I really love it. It does have some odd things wrong with it. Its very noisy going down the highway. The Windows and sunroof leak air. My cd player doesnt work. I need new tires after one year on new ones. It does have lots of room. It handles corners well. However when im going down a hill and apply pressure to the breaks the whole thing shakes. If you buy one get a good deal on it. Dont pay to much. You will enjoy it if you dont pay to much for it.

  • Not Impressed - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Engine is peppy but very noisy. AWD is noisy when cornering. Windshield design traps lots of debris in the wiper area and creates big blind spots on both sides. Snow and ice accumulate in the wiper area and is very hard to remove in the morning if parked outside. Integral unadjustable headrests are tilted too far forward for a 6 person making it necessary to recline the seat way back to remove your chin from your chest. Rattles from dashboard, gearshift and front suspension area. Terrible drivers view to the rear and sides. -Backing up is a real chore. Cloth upholstery stains far too easily and doesnt clean up well. Parking brake cant be used if console cupholders are open.

  • Great small SUV - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Mine has the V6 option. Rides great and more room than you would expect especially in rear seat area. Son in law says there is more room than in my Avalanche. The gas mileage on the V6 is not what they had claimed with best ever less than 20 combined and if mostly in town drops to 15 or so. Still improvement on the Avalanche I traded in, but could be better. Hopefully that improves once broken in and get past the first oil change too. Interior is very stylish with a friend comparing it to cars like the Lexus, now thats a step up for GM. Shows they are moving in the right direction.

  • Stay away - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Stay away...this gas eating machine will not come close to dealer specs. My car has been in 7 times in 3 months for things falling apart and shifting issues. Software updates have not changed a thing. So, be cautious with this one.
