Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Great SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I went to the dealer looking for a truck. This stylish SUV was next to the trucks. My wife and I immediately were drawn to this vehicle. We liked the innovative storage system and rear sliding seat. After driving a fully loaded LT model with leather seats, we had to have one. We have not been disappointed. It rides like the same price range sedans and gets comparitive gas mileage.

I have owned the Equinox for 6 months. I am getting 24 MPG on the road. I have owned Tahoes for 15 years and theis Equinox has as much acceleration as the Tahoes. Not one problem with the car in the first 6 months. Nothing to fix or replace.

  • Wish I had know more details about vehicle - 2014 Chevrolet Equinox

I was very disappointed after purchasing my 2014 Equinox. I had owned a Hyundai Santa Fe for 10 years and loved it. After researching decided to go with Chevrolet in 2013. It is so difficult to get in the drivers seat. At first I was constantly hitting my head. I have learned to bend down to get in. There is no room in the drivers seat. The console goes to the back. Hard to reach the lid to close. When going to an ATM, it is impossible to reach out the window. It is very difficult for passengers to get in and out of passenger side. Seats slope on sides and are hard. I have owned the vehicle for 2 years and looking to replace it. It will be my first vehicle I will not drive for 10 years!

I purchased this vechicle after researching it for months. I am disappointed in the interior features. The gas mileage is nowhere close to what the mpg on the stickers says. Bad gas mileage. It is noisy on rough surface roads. The interior materials are cheap even in the LT. I have owned Chevrolet cars, vans, pickups and SUVs. I must say I am very disappointed with the Equinox. Not much bang for your buck.

  • Avoid like the plague - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Smooth ride with a very good engine. Fuel economy is 14mpg which for a small SUV (try getting a stroller in the back and youll see what I mean) is poor. Four visits for warranty repair and I have yet to get a courtesy car. Beware, the build quality on this car is shocking. The passenger windows fall down on their own. One passenger window will only close if it is slammed and then the casing falls off inside. The glove box cover doesnt fit and is prone to opening all on its own. Seriously, look elsewhere if you can..

I looked at this car as an afterthought. I love it. The acceleration and handling is great. You cant beat the leg room in front or back. My friends love the "claw" cupholders. I had test driven the escape, crv and vue and none of them compared to the power and handling of the equinox. Its a great deal.

  • 2011 4 AWD Equinox MPG TERRIBLE FALSE ADVERTISING - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Im 60 years old. Ive been around and have worked on cars ALL my life. I presently collect and restore my own muscle cars, have about 40. I bought this Equinox hoping to get at least NEAR the advertised MPG which is does not. Ive yet to get 22 MPG. I phoned GM and was told to give it 3500-5000 miles and mileage should increase. I understand the computer controls the break in period and this are supposed to improve, but at 3800 miles so far they have not. I dont want any suggestions or reasons, I know them all, believe me. Im going to take a loss and get rid of this car and get something else this week. I would be willing to start a class action law suit if there are any attorneys reading

  • OH HOW I LOVE MY EQUINOX - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I had a 2007 kia, until I found the equinox. I was originally looking at a Pontiac torrent which is a sister to the equinox. I ended up buying the equinox. Its actually wider than the torrent and the front ends are different. We recently drove it to fla for a Cruise and it was a wonderful ride verses the kia. Only bad thing is the stupid plastic cup holders... And no where to lay your phone or smokes but I fixed that problem easily. I bought a small office wire basket at walmart and put it on the dash, now I have space to stash a lot. The radio is great but the speakers arent as good as I had in my kia... But overall I give this suv a 10!

  • Was red in color-should have been YELLOW - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Bought this on 2/7/09, traded on 6/14/09. Worse care I ever bought. HAd less than 50,000 miles when I bought it and 6 weeks after purchase was hit with a $2700 repair bill. Dealership said sorry, but nothing we can do for you. I know it was a used car but this was ridiculous. Anyone considering an Equinox...think again. Traded for a 2003 Santa Fe GLS with more miles. Runs better and looks better.
