Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • cant wait to trade in - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

At first it was a nice car until the problems started. I had the brakes redone at 14000 miles. The a/c doesnt work on the drivers side. I already have rust starting on the back end. Warranty takes care of these. But I have to put my second windshield in because it cracks in the same spot starting below the rubber near the passenger door. Niether of them are from cracks The most annoying part is that I cant clean snow off of the windshield because of the design. The snow gets stuck and builds up because the "wings" that stick further out than the windshield. I am currently looking for a new car.

Well i couldnt pass up the huge rebates even though i kinda regret it now just because the 2010s are so darn sexy. However i am still pleased and my wife is extremely pleased with our current equinox. Still i prefer the 2009 equinox to the competitions compact suvs.

  • Great car, horrible turning radius - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought this car last year - Feb 2006 - and have had no problems with it. The car has been reliable and consistent. You can work a great deal on this car and definitely get your moneys worth. The only downside to this vehicle is its horrible turning radius. I never thought about a cars turning radius before buying it before, but I believe a Mac truck could u-turn easier than this vehicle.

  • Everything I Was Looking For - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

This is the best vehicle in the segment. If you are looking for a small/midsize SUV you must put this on your shopping list. Plenty of standard features make it a great value.

  • terrific vehicle so far - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Ive just had the car one week. With both city and highway driving I averaged over 28 MPG. The seats are very comfortable and all the features are easy to reach. The base model has a lot of fun features providing instant MPG and average MPG, the SERIUS radio, 2 dispays etc. The 4 cylinder with the 6 speed transmission runs like a 6 cylinder. Motor noise is negligible for a car this size with a 4 cylinder.

  • Get the 2.0 with Turbo AWD Version! - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I drove the standard 1.5L models of this vehicle and hated it. The car seemed very under powered and boring to drive. I gave the 2.0L model with AWD and Turbo and the car is a blast to drive! Its got around 260HP and is very quick to get going. The acceleration is incredible and really feels great. The transmission shifts seamlessly and and smooth. This re-design was a win by Chevrolet! Seriously, if you are interested though dont even bother with the lower end 1.5L options.

new vehicle, approaching 1000 miles and two weeks of driving. very smooth and tight ride, feels like a nice, solid build. brakes already saved me once from rear-ending a sudden- stopper. fuel efficiency depends on my leadfoot, but cruise control is great at it, so long trips are great.

  • Bum Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I loved my car from the moment I bought it but shortly after the problems started. It would start about 50% of the time and I had it in the shop several times before it was discovered that the fuel pump system had faulty parts. Recently the wiring system has become faulty and is blowing fuses to the point that my car literally dies! The trade in value is horrible and the gas mileage is nothing to brag about.

  • Unhappy - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We bought our 2007 Equinox brand new, noticed a smell and inside windows kept fogging up this summer. Found that our carpet in the back was completely soaked with water. By the time we found the issue, our carpets had a black mold on them. I have a small child who is a severe asthmatic and I feel this is a safety issue. Our Equinox is currently back at the dealership for recurrent leaks. So far the dealership cant figure out the source of the leak, so AGAIN I am in limbo, renting a car, hopefully it wont take 6 weeks, like the first time.

  • Heated Seats left me Out in the Cold - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I love the exterior my 2007 Equinox. XM radio is a great feature. However interior is full of issues. Heated seats work intermittently. Dont wait until winter to try them. You might be out in the cold. This feature isnt for the duration of the 5 yr, 100,000 mile warranty. Check them throughout the year even in the summer. Right passenger airbag sensor doesnt always work. GM recall for this. Driver side seat mechanism didnt work once for 2 days. Took it to dealership to fix. Chrome center panel reflects sun causing blinding glare when driving. Remember some things are only under warranty for 2 years so dont delay taking your car in for repairs. Make sure its in computer system everytime
