Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Intermittent Shifting - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I ordered my Equinox in March and picked it up in May. Car went back 3rd day for ignition steering wheel lock. Dealer repaired and no other issues. Transmission downshifted weird on highway and at low rpm. Took it back to dealer and they said it was a quart low on fluid and that should fix it. At 1,800 miles exact issue. Got a loaner car and they reloaded software for transmission. Got car back a week later, ran fine for 13 days, then same issue. Called Chevy and they told me more was done then was on the invoice but they are sending me back to the dealership to try for the third time. Michigan has a lemon law but I am considering getting a lawyer. I know earlier post referenced transmission problems.

  • Overall Great Vehicle - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought the car in April 2010 and I have been averaging 28-29 mpg, which I am happy with. I ended up getting the 18" wheels which seems to make the ride a bit stiff. The car runs great but there seems to be a slight hesitation during quick acceleration. I have cloth seats and the drivers seat is experiencing a problem with the foam material appears to be bunching up where it meets the seat back. This is causing a hump right at the back of the seat cushion. The dealer has a new one on order, 2+ weeks so far. Having the door locks on the dash is a pain as I am use to locking my doors as I exit the vehicle. Just taking an adjustment.

  • GM competes! - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Ive driven Volvos and Lexus for many years because American quality was low. When my Lexus RX400 SUV was stolen, I looked for similar features, and the Equinox came coming up, at $15k less than the new RX 450. The seat is more comfortable than the Lexus, and its more maneuverable. Luxury features are comparable, plus some. Nav system is better, personalization of car features is more extensive.

  • So happy! - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

We just bought the Equinox in June after 4 months of researching MANY crossovers! I love it!The styling is so nice,Ive had 2 different people compare it to a Lexus and Mercedes. No complaints as of yet. Its my first 4 cylinder, so it is taking me a little getting used to that, but it isnt a huge difference from a 6. Roomy enough, love that you can adjust the backseat, remote start, rear view camera (is also taking some getting used to),and the price for this car is excellent! We paid 24,995.00. I also cant understand why editors rated it only 7.5. The new design on this Equinox is so sharp. Had a very hard time finding the LT1 in Black Granite, but it was worth the wait.

  • Continuous Message Popping Up - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

So I bought my 2010 Equinox LT1 on January 29th of this year. I love it and dont regret buying it. I do have a few problems with it though. About 3 months after I bought it, a message began to pop up whenever I would hook up my iPhone 3G. It would read, "No supported data found. You can safely disconnect the device." It started not even recognizing my iPhone anymore. Now the same message comes up about every 5 minutes or so when Im driving, and nothing is even hooked up to the car! I have taken it into the dealer 3 times in the past 3 months to get it fixed, and they cant seem to fix the problem. I want to keep the car because I love it, but does this fall under the lemon law?

  • Sick of GM. - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Way overpriced $30,000.00 4 cylinder, lt1 package, basics pw, pb, air, etc. Cheap looking inside, smaller than previous models. Best of all nothing off sticker price and no rebates, wow!

  • Never Again - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

This Vehicle looked sharp once I brought it home. unfortunately thats when all the issues started. Dealerships were not helpful at all. Everything had a price to fix. Interior dash lights out only lights half of the odometer/fuel gauge etc. ABS and TC light have been on for 4 years have asked to have it checked. $105.00 to look at the problem (not warrantied, should be a recall) Gas guzzler, cant get 450kms off a tank, city or highway. Turning radius poor. Going back to Honda

  • Great Value for the money - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

This is the first Chevrolet I have owned and I must say that I am quite pleased. I test drove a Ford, GMC, and Chevrolet and the Equinox was the best out of all three. Drives smooth and quiet. Bumps are hardly noticed. Space is well used, cargo area is large for a midsized SUV. For a V-6, sufficient power is available when needed.

  • $34,000 car, where are amenities? - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Love my car, but didnt realize until got it home, no passenger side power seat - what? and No programmable garage door opener--I consider these standard equipment on a mid-priced car. I got the LTZ and added granite paint, 18" wheels, audio/navigation system, I just assumed that it would have a power passenger seat and programmable door opener. I was driving a Buick Rendezvous that had all these amenities and seats that folded flat
