This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, new forward collision alert and lane-departure warning systems are now available. Equinox 1LT models also have the rearview camera as standard equipment this year. However, the optional rear seat video entertainment system has been dropped.

Pros:
  • Quiet cabin with lots of storage bins
  • Premium look inside and out
  • Comfortable ride.
  • Spacious and adjustable backseat
Cons:
  • Not quite as much cargo space as chief rivals
  • Numb and uncommunicative steering.
  • Some controls difficult to reach

  • Comfortable, economical & reliable. - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Purchased as a certified vehicle from my local Chevy dealer in July of 2014 with 33K on the odometer. Got new tires as part of the deal. Up to 114K miles and I can say it has been an excellent vehicle for my purposes. I travel to BPCR matches all around the country (3-trips coast-to-coast thus far) and it hauls all my (and often another competitors) gear with zero complaint. New tires every 80K and Mobil-1 every 10K and its keeps on trucking. Think the next one will have the V6 for a bit more umph in the mountains, but the 4cyl averages just under 30mpg at 73mph on the interstates. Especially like its smaller size when in the city. Easy to maneuver/park and handles great (probably has to do with the quality Goodyear tires I keep on it) for an SUV. Have hauled as much as 1500lbs. Zero problems other a warped front rotor that was replaced ($48 part) when I had the pads replaced at 93K miles. Highly recommended.

My husband bought me this car after a back injury when my 4-wheel drive truck was too rough for me to drive. I have loved it! The seats are so comfortable, even on long trips. The power rear liftgate was a lifesaver for getting things in and out. And it looks snazzy too. The navigation system and Onstar always made me feel safe traveling alone.

Car has good looks, plenty of room both front and back, very low cost to operate and is very dependable. What more could one want.

  • Perfect - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Bought this car used in 2013 with 14K and its been perfect ever since. Now just hitting 50K and have had absolutely zero issues with anything. Its comfortable driving to the store and its comfortable driving for hours on a road trip. GM seems to have a bad rep with reliability but I dont see why, this car is great.

I had the V6 and not the 4 cyl but it was not an option. I loved this car, but selling it after 116,000 miles.
