Overview & Reviews
Antilock brakes are standard on all models for 2006. Heated cloth seats are now available on the LT, the LS features body-color fascias and the LT gets body-color rearview mirrors.
- Long wheelbase affords plenty of interior room, fore/aft-adjustable rear seats, high crash test scores, available side curtain airbags.
- Limited choice in drivetrains, confusing stereo control layout, slow steering response.

Good Utility - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By homesbytom - June 6 - 1:28 amI purchased this 2006 vehicle replacing my 2001 toyota prius in 2005. I have over 53,000 miles on the car, no major work yet. I put synthetic oil in and change it every 5k, just bought new tires and breaks. Only had one tail light go out. Otherwise car runs excellent.

Great SUV - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Great SUV - May 25 - 11:33 pmI bought this second-hand and owned it for about 6 months. This SUV rivals those that are priced 2 and 3 times as much. Quiet and powerful engine and smooth and quick transmission. Great ride and fun to drive. The exterior and interior are both stylist and functional. Great value for the price. Go get one.

Typical GM quality - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Former GM loyalist - May 25 - 9:26 pmThis car is VERY comfortable to drive. Peppy, roomy (love the movable back seat.)yet not cumbersome in tight spaces. Very nice size for a family car. The center console is pretty awkward. The window controls mounted in the center is still confusing after 3 1/2 years owning this car. Those are my only complaints about the design. But the quality-my goodness I have had innumerable light bulbs burn out, locking differentials break, break rotors ruined at 40K miles. Maybe Im spoiled by my Honda Civic-but all this repair work on a car with less than 50 K seems a bit much.

Nursemobile - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Carol Howell - May 6 - 11:46 amI drive about 125 miles a day when I am working. I appreciate the pickup when driving on the freeway. I have experienced some transmission "jerk" on a quick acceleration - ie. getting on the freeway/passing on a double lane road. Satellite radio is a must for me as well as the heated seats.

Problems - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By S. Ryan - April 30 - 12:23 pmMy car has 30700 miles on it and I have had the brakes replaced now the ABS and TC light is on constantly. I also need new tires. The car is roomly but I shouldnt be having these problems with this low mileage. There is a lot of wind noise also.

unsure - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By unsure - April 30 - 1:50 amIve owned my nox for a year. Over all I really love it. It does have some odd things wrong with it. Its very noisy going down the highway. The Windows and sunroof leak air. My cd player doesnt work. I need new tires after one year on new ones. It does have lots of room. It handles corners well. However when im going down a hill and apply pressure to the breaks the whole thing shakes. If you buy one get a good deal on it. Dont pay to much. You will enjoy it if you dont pay to much for it.

Different Opinions - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Bill - March 28 - 7:49 amI bought a new, 2006 Equinox sight unseen via the internet. As I work overseas, my wife is the primary driver. Almost from day one, she commented as to the road noise, turning radius and poor gas mileage. I am now retiring and will most likely keep the car for another year. My retirement gift to my wife - another car...

unhappy but hopeful - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Angie - March 25 - 4:39 pmI bought my used/certified 2006 eq on 2/13/09 since then I have had it back to the dealership 4 times for a starter problem and 2 times for the radio. They finally fixed my radio and after the 4th time they finally fixed my Starter problem (they replaced the whole computer system) Gas Mileage is ok but turning radius is horrible! Cup Holders and Parking Break should not be that close together

Love It! - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By JJ - March 13 - 8:10 amThis is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have only had my Nox for about 4 months and I was recently rear- ended. I was so scared to get out and see the damage. I was shocked to find a few scratches - the rubber part of the bumper holds up GREAT. Wonderful in the snow and I have the basic model. Great room & sound. Im getting ready to trade up to the LT Model. I get lots of compliments on this vehicle.

Fun to drive! - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Anthony - March 12 - 11:01 amThe 3.4 litre engine is peppy and responsive, gets up to speed quickly and handles well in traffic, builds RPMs fast, good bottom and mid range. Very roomy, especially in the backseat and storage areas. Center console is not layed out all that well, radio controls are confusing, overall has a fairly cheap and plain look to interior. Seats are very firm, but supportive, the huge windshield gives good visibility. Exterior is very attractive looking and is on par with other more expensive small SUVs, the sunroof is a nice option for the modest price.
