  • Poor gas mileage - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I bought my 2011 Equinox new on January 1st. 2011. I have approx. 13,000 miles on it. I like almost everything about the vehicle except the gas mileage. I researched SUVs for several months before deciding on this one. My main buying point was that it had to have good gas mileage. This one said it had 27/32. I am lucky to get 26, and that is on the highway driving on a flat road with nothing but myself in the car. Ive checked the mileage every time I fill it up its never gotten better than 26. I was told it would get better mileage after I had my first oil change. This is a lie on Chevys part. I wouldnt have bought the car if Id known that was the absolute best it would ever get.

  • Lots of features, disappointing MPG - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Ive had my Equinox for about a year now and have had no problems. It drives smooth. Its roomy. I like how the back seat slides back and forth, so you can add room where you need it. I like how the sunroof slides AND tilts. I really like having a USB port. It makes it so easy to listen to my music. The rearview camera is very helpful, and almost neccesary. The stereo sounds good too, but you may have to adjust it to your liking. I like the fact that I was able to go 8,000 miles before I needed an oil change. And even though I dont have AWD, it handles the snow and ice well.

  • Why Chevy Still Doesnt Get It - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We bought a 2011 Equinox and loved it - until yesterday. Five months old and the car simply died - while driving on the highway at 60 mph. Not what youd expect from a new car - stuff happens but what happened next clarifies why with all the gains theyve made, Chevy has a LONG way to go when it comes to understanding and serving their customer. When we the car died, we were able to pull over and call OnStar. They remotely diagnosed the issue (power train and transmission problems). But at this point they told us we needed to call ahead to the dealer to let them know we were getting towed there and they would not forward their diagnosis info to the dealer ("theyll run their own").

  • Love it - LOVE IT - but wait, the check engine light just came on... - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

At 7800 miles I was driving to pick up a Pizza tonight thinking I should write a review on how much I love this Equinox. But on the ride home the check engine light came on and it stalled! I really do love this SUV. The styling and materials are top notch for the price. I love the handling and it is clear there are European underpinnings being used. It is very surefooted. I like the transmission and it makes good use of the 4 cylinder.

  • My Equinox - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I own a 2011 Equinox bought it one year ago. Have had no problems. I bought the 3.0L v-6 because of reviews I read about the v-4. The car has great pick up and smooth ride. The seats took alittle adjusting to get them comfortable. My husband complains about them. The other con is the venting system is strange where the vents are. They are blowing at my arm while Im driving or at my face. Youd think after all these years they would get that right. I liked my Trailblazer better where the vents are. The Equinox feels like a luxury car and the trailblazer felt like a truck. Which wasnt bad just different.

  • Wish I had not bout it. MPG is a joke - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We bought a new 2011 LT2 for my wife. She loves the looks and it is comfortable and relatively fun to drive. Only relaibility problem in the first 9000 miles was a squeak in the headliner, which the dealer fixed. Main complaint is horrible mpg as compared to GMs advertised 32 mpg highway. Just got back from a Kansas City to Denver trip. Used the eco button and cruise and got 24 mpg. If you want higher mpg, I would suggest the subaru outback. Wish I had that instead.

  • Gas Mileage and 4 cylinder engine performance - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I traded a 350 hp hemi dodge truck on the 180 hp AWD LT2 Equinox. While there there is a big difference in engine performance between the two vehicles, the Equinox 4 banger is still quite peppy. I read that others have said the car is slow from a dead start and that is true unless you really give the throttle a good mash. More throttle produces much more response. My biggest gripe is that 3,780 lb, 180 hp engine is averaging only 21.5 mpg. The 6,000+ lb, 350 hp hemi multidisplacement engine was not far behind this with 18-19 mpg. My wifes Jeep Liberty V6 averages more than the Equinox. Although fun to drive, I am disappointed in the gas mileage.

  • Nice Vehicle - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought a LT2 with the V6 engine. Ive had it for about a week now, and love it. It handles very well, and the interior quality is very good. The steering wheel controls take some getting used to, but are great! I have had several compliments on the car.

  • Eh... - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Ive owned the Equinox AWD LT1 4CYl for 3 weeks now and sadly, as time goes on Im less and less in love with it. The most disappointing part is the power this vehicle is SLOW. Its most noticeable when taking off at a red light, engine revs like crazy and Im left in the dust of the cars in front of me. Not too bad on the HWY from 60-70, but merging is difficult at best. The interior has many little "misdesigns" that add up quickly. The air vents are slim and oddly placed, so the car stays pretty hot. The dash is very "plastic fantastic" with no color or texture variance. Rear seat fold latch location is inconvenient. For the money, I think there are many better options. Disappointed.

  • MPG not like advertised - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I got the load down LTZ with the DVD and Nav. I love all the features! My only complain is the horrible gas mileage. I drive both city and hwy daily and I average 21.5 MPG. That is not even what they advertise for city and no where close to the 32 Hwy. I was hoping to average about 28 since thats what I averaged with my old Lexus with similar specs. I was told to let the engine get broke in first before I said anything but Im at 11,500 miles and it never got better. Other than that its a great car!
