Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

Owning the Equinox has been very nice. If I were to change anything, it would be to give it a bigger gas tank. It is about the same size as a cars but with SUV mileage, I find myself at the pump more often than I think I should. Gas mileage is good for its size.

Ive had the nox for about 3 months now and ive had a few problems like the visor fell off and the console screws came lose but nothing major yet. There is a bit of access noise in the cabin but not too bad. The ride is pretty good, and the gas mileage is OK. I guess my favorite feature would have to be the interior room for the size of the car. Im 61 and its no inconvenience for me to sit in it. It has pretty good take off for the 185 hp. The car is not a bad one in my eyes. Im just saying there definitely are better ones out there. The stereo is pretty nice

  • Nice car with some disappointments - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

I have had my 2011 chevy equinox for 3 weeks, and put 913 miles on it. I love the handling of this car, lot of space. I bought a basic model, but it doesnt look cheap at all. However, the gas millage is not good as GM claim, I only get 17 mpg on city, and its not even close to 22. I havent drive a lot on highway yet, so I am looking forward to see what will be real the highway mileage. This car looks really nice but I am really disappointed about GM’s quality control! I went back to the dealer 3 times for the last 3 weeks. The seat belt was twisted face to a wrong side, front passenger door window trim is not even as the rear door, rear door window has a problem to roll down

  • The Equinox sold itself - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

My wife and I purchase a 2011 FWD LT Equinox a month ago and we are liking the car more and more each day. After 8 years of driving a minivan it was time to move on. We looked at all the Mid sized SUVs and we found ourselves to keep coming back to the Equinox. So many features on the model level we bought. The only disappointing thing was the headliner was missing clips so it was sagging and didnt notice until one of our sons remarked when he was a passenger in the back seat. Dealer fixed but left grease marks on fabric (another story). All in all we love our new Equinox.

I have had this car for 11 months, and have put 20K miles on it. I absolutely love it. It handles well on the highway and on the congested city streets. It has good pick up and handling. I have had no problems at all. With as much as I drive, it is nice that the gas milage is good. My family and friends like that the back seat has plenty of room and moving seats.

  • A very good small SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The Equinox has great interior room, confortable seats for long trips, good performance, and a pleasant ride. The fit and finish on our vehicle was very good, no complaints there. The steering seemed a little overpowered at first, but its easy to get used to. Drawbacks are few. Solid back seat headrests and high window on hatchback make backing up to parallel park in a tight space a little difficult.

This is an extremely smooth riding vehicle. I also enjoy the all wheel drive feature. I dont have to worry about when to use it or not, a computer senses if it is needed and kicks it in automatically.
