Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • The Best in its Class - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I traded in my 09 Civic, for my 2010 Equinox, I love it. I was concern with the Gas Milege, cause the Civic was awsome, however its all on how you drive, i keep my Equinox in Eco Mode the entire time, i drive at 60-70 MPH, use the cruise control everytime i can, and I get 27- 29 miles per gallon in the city, i took it in a trip, and I got exactly 32 Miles per gallon in hwy. Before I bought it, I looked at Honda CRV, Toyota RAV 4, Hundai Tucson. The Equinox smokes them all no comparison, the Equinox is way superior than all of them. In my opinion the best in its class.

We have had it only two weeks now, but my wife, who is the principle driver, really likes it. We also own an 05 Saturn L300, which I now use for work as I travel a lot. Both vehicles are very different, but are serving us well. We are curious how well the AWD will perform this winter here in Massachusetts.

I finally found the Equinox at the price and equiped the way I wanted. It took about two months to consumate the deal. The Equinox was worth the wait, it suits my needs completely. I wanted a smaller vehicle ,yet with comfort, as IM 63, it has plenty of rooom and a great ride. Ite fun to drive, very comfortable and responsive. The styling is a plus, makes you feel like your driving a futuristic SUV.My Granddaughter has her eye on it and said she would like to have it for her school car ,in about 4 years.I will pass it on to her because it has exceptionally good saftey features. Head curtians and side and frontal Air Bags.Plus All Wheel Drive. Also On Star, great security option.

  • Worst SUV ever - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

My wife bought this car about 2.5 years ago. The first test drive was not too bad and the engine felt pretty good but after driving this vehicle several times and on long distances I came to the conclusion that this is one of the worst one we have ever owned. The only positive thing I personally can say about this car is the interior space in the back. The turning radius is the one of a 18 wheeler, the brakes are bad, the steering is flimpsy, the visibility - especially when you back up - is terrible, the paint on the door panels and on the instrument cluster is chipping, on the outside the windowsgaskets and the Chevy emblem are getting loose, mileage is quite bad etc.

Turning in tight spots needs some attention. The mileage is not what as advertise. The mileage was my biggest disappointment. Other than those 2 items, I really like the Equinox and its roominess for riding. I did not get all the options, but a fair share, I like the options I do have.

I bought this car after the first test drive. It was immediately clear that no one has the smooth drive of Chevy...even with AWD. Control, seating, cargo space, and awesome sound makes the Equinox....our Equi Rox. I loved the GM employee pricing. I liked that the dealer had all the different options on the Equinox on the lot. I hate buying new cars. It is a chore for me. So many cars with the same features. The Chevy Equinox made it easy. You gotta drive the different SUVs in its class to appreciate the Equinox ride.

I have owned my Equinox for just over a month and I absolutely love it. I test drove a Ford Escape, Honda CRV, Toyota Rav and the Equinox (in my opinion) was far superior for comfort, style, etc. I have a bad back and the lumbar seats are just wonderful. Also the back seats are roomy, and much more comfortable than the foreign models. My husband was prepared not to like this vehicle (Ford person) and he loves it as much as I do. From the outside it doesnt seem that big, but I am amazed at how much room is inside, and if you fold the seats down, you can haul a lot of cargo. It is amazing to me that a vehicle this size can get such good mileage (the 4 cylinder model).

  • Good SUV but needs better gas milage - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

For me, the seating is one of the best features. I have two artifical knees and one hip, so getting in and out is important to me. This car is one of the easiest ones to sit in we have had. Also being a snow bird that travels back and forth to Florida a couple times a year, a little larger gas tank would be desirable.
