Overview & Reviews
Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.
Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

LTZ is great but not a buick! - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox
By Dr. Roy - May 9 - 4:38 amWe miss these three accessories the most on our top of the Equinox line SUV. (1) the CD player (2) the glove box light and... (3) the heated steering wheel. A very poor decision on the part of GM management to eliminate these items.

Cool Car - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Dan14036 - May 6 - 10:00 amExcellent design, but I wouldnt compare this to a tracker! I really dont like them, but the Equinox is amazing. It is very comfortable to drive and really is a great "SUV."

MY 1ST SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By peter94 - May 6 - 10:00 amJust purchased our Equinox last weekend and so far LOVE IT!! Plenty of room for our family and all the "kid stuff" that we manage to haul around. Love all the storage spaces and the fact that I dont feel like Im driving a "truck". Also looked at Toyota, Ford, Nissan...but liked the overall package of the Chevy the best.

Just Bought One - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Wayne McDowell - April 30 - 10:00 amI really like the Equinox except for one thing. The head rests are so uncomfortable they give you a headache on a long trip. We complained to GM and it seems we arent alone with the complaint. They moved the head rests forward 2" in the 2005 model. My wife doesnt even want to sit in it if we are driving more than 30 minutes. The seats are overly comfortable either.

Love this vehicle - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By James - April 27 - 4:26 pmWhat a smooth ride and just the right size. It has the European look and feel. I see folks looking at it to check out what exactly it is. After weeks, if not months, of searching this one was the best of all we studied...so we bought it fully loaded except for the leather, at a very nice price!

Looks Good - but thats about it. - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By CJ - April 27 - 1:23 pmI cant believe the poor gas milage Im getting from my Equinox. My husband has finally convinced me to trade it in for a Nissan. Ive always owned a Chevy, but after this Im ready to try something else. My Equinox looks great, but looks arent everything. It has issues. Ive already had to have it towed. Im always wondering if theres a problem with the fuel, as it seems like its sluggish and downshifts hard. Also, if youre looking at buying one, just find a used one. They are dirt cheap right now. Well be taking a loss to get rid of ours.

equinox LS - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By d adair - April 25 - 10:00 amPurchased April 27, 2004...wasnt intending to trade just yet but wanted a larger vehicle for the daily freeway commute...I have been pleased with the fit and finish and engine responsiveness. The 5 speed automatic transmission combined with the 6 cyl engine supplies a good mix for the rigors of daily commute w/o feeling like you are pushing the motor to its limits. Gas mileage is Ok... could always be better. Happy previous owner of 2000 Tracker w/ 5 Speed Manual. Thought I wanted another manual transmission but am satisfied with 5 speed auto.
