Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • FIRST GM CAR IN 40+ YEARS - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

We bought the Equinox in a hurry under the "clunker" deadline with limited available info (except it was much better than previous model). I was impressed with all the high tech features mostly aimed at improving mileage and safety) with a price in the lower end of the 20s. my wife was impressed the its eerie quietness. Seating is exceptionally commodious, comfortable and versatile. Id say better value than the Japanese competition, Lets see if GM reliability and service is improved along with the product design.

I think Chevy got it right this time. I am VERY happy with my Equinox. The interior is roomy, exterior stylish, and best of all, mileage is as advertised (19.5 around town-24/25 hwy) I have 7500 miles logged with no problems. Trips from Pa to Vermont and West Virginia, with no trouble in the snow with only FWD. Fold down the rear seats and all my ski equipment (plus skis) fit nicely.

I had problems with the motor almost as soon as I bought it. Check engine light came on and multiple trips to the dealership failed to correct the problem. In the 4 years I owned it, maybe a total of a collective year the check engine light wasnt on.

I find this SUV to be very comfortable and fun to drive. It handles better then any SUV that I have driven. I like the body style. It is sleek and orginal. It has a lot of leg room. I like the back seat that moves back and forth. I like the sound system, it has alot of power. All in all, it is the best SUV out there

  • Love My Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

It rides nice with a quiet ride. Replaced the EGR Valve and front struts under warranty. Im disappointed with dealership performance, but not with the vehicle. Lots of storage with rear seats folded down and forward. Same storage as a standard trunk with seats back. Lots of rear seat leg room. Good acceleration. Gets 19-22 mpg depending on how you drive it. Gets 24.5mpg on the highway, or if ridiculously babied. Traction control and anti-lock brakes work great in Michigan.

The Equinox has a very smooth ride, and a lot of get up and go when needed. I like the looks of the vehicle. The interior is really nice. So far I havent had anything to complain about.

  • Poor Gas performer - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The whole deal of me getting this thing was fuel mileage and the dealership knew it. I traded a loaded 2004 Z-71 pick up 1/2 ton. I said I need more then 18mpg and they showed me this and I had really read a lot on this Equinox and everything is as said but no one had said anything about fuel mileage I went by what the dealer told me and the fuel sticker since I bought mine in july Chevy has since changed the sticker from 19 city to 17 city and from 25 hwy to 23 hwy. I get 17 and when I tow a little four wheeler on a 255 pound trailer I get 12 mpg. Had I known this in advance I would still be in a Z-71. The dealership doesnt try to do anything and I called Chevy and they give me the run around.
