Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

I had been looking for a new SUV but I wanted to downsize from my Explorer. I love this SUV because it is very roomy inside and I dont feel I had to give up a lot going to the Equinox. Even though it is a 4 speed it has a lot of pick-up and I am loving the fuel savings. I looked at both the 2009 and 2010 which are different. The cost and fuel economy is much better in the 2010 than the 2009 and I actually got a better deal on the 2010.

I purchased my Equinox in May of 2004. I love it! Fuel economy, roomy, carlike feeling, spacious like a minivan and looks like an SUV. I have received plenty of compliments on this car from friends family co workers, and complete strangers. For the price, you cant go wrong!

This is my first Chevy and first SUV. I have owned several cars in the past, my last a Honda Accord in which I have been very pleased with. But with an increasing family, my wife and I started looking at SUVs. We spotted the Equinox. We were very impressed with its style and also the price, along with its mileage performance. Im tall, so I wanted an SUV that would be very roomy, and the Equinox has it all and more. The interior could be a little nicer with plusher leather. A wheel bearing went bad in back right wheel, the window washer quit working, and most recently I heard a popping noise when making turns. It was left front strut that dealership recently replaced, I hope its not an omen. Other than that, Im very pleased. Chevy has replaced the Tracker with an awesome SUV. As of right now with 23,000 miles I am very happy with this vehicle.

  • One Awesome SUV! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This car is simply awesome. I was shopping (for a replacement of my 7 year-old Subaru Impreza) for almost 5 months. When I test drove it, I fell for it right away. Even though Ive already seen my first choice which is the BMW X3, I still went to get the Equinox. It actually has more Cabin and cargo space and at least $10,000 less. The interior is great with all the conveniences. The dashboard is beautifully designed (streamlined and simply neatly designed). Its simply just comfortable. AC is powerful. Just a very comfortable, beautiful and powerful ride overall.

I just purchased this vehicle 2 days ago. Its extremely comfortable, and the ride is so smooth. What sold me on this particular SUV was the crash test ratings. I was very concerned on the rollover potential since it was an SUV. It handles extremely well!

  • Transmission/Recalls - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I have 7000 miles on my car. There is a noise coming from the transmission when it shifts from 1-2nd, only does this after the car has sat for about an hour or more. I have taken this to the dealership, let it sit for about an hour, tech said he THOUGHT he heard something, checked it out in the shop, said it was ok. I dont think so. I will go to another dealer. Also FYI there are already two recalls on this model. Over all I really like my car, fun to drive and I like all the features it has. The one thing I miss is a button to activate the garage door opener.

I had to have one. I had a 03 Trailblazer but this is a good bang for the buck. Looks like the high end Lexus and BMW sport utes.
