Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Overall a good SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I had a Montero, and this SUV is a lot more fun to drive. Its not been too long since I got it, but so far so good. Only problem is the stereo is too complicated. GM should do something about it..

  • So far so good - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Just passed the 2000 mile mark, and all is well with the vehicle. I couldnt find one on the lot, so I ordered one. It was well worth the 8 week wait. Took an age to decide "Terrain or Equinox", but I know Ive made the right choice. Blue interior lighting, and a power lift gate with the premium cloth finally swayed it the Chevy way. Gas mpg is 5+ miles off advertised, but its already 90°+ here in Florida, and the air is cranking, so no real complaints. Still early days, but all in all an excellent vehicle.

  • More than expected - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We have found our AWD Chevrolet Equinox LS to be a much more enjoyable vehicle than we originally expected it would be. The ride is very comfortable and carlike, the engine is quiet and very powerful, the seats are comfortable and very versitile and even the radio with its many buttons is much easier to operate than other radios with those confusing multi-function buttons. The AWD system couldnt be simpler to operate, you do absolutely nothing, and provides a secure feeling in all kinds of weather. Even the wipers, both front and rear, are the quietest I have ever heard. Do yourself a favor, dont overlook this vehicle.

I have a great experience with the Equinox. I have driven everything else on the road and this has given me the best interior room and gas mileage is great too.

  • Great replacement choice - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I purchased my 2010 LT2nox in July to replace a fully loaded 05 Trailblazer. I find it a great value. Its nicely equipped, fun to drive and looks great. I recently took it on a 1,400 mile road trip that included 3 adults and 2 dogs and was pleasantly impressed. It handled beautifully, mileage was impressive with and without A/C, and we were comfortable. So far no problems and Im loving it. I do agree with everyone about the chrome on the dash storage compartment; when the sun or even a street light hits it you are momentarily blinded!

For the price, this is an SUV anyone can love. It provides the room and height needed to get around today. I have averaged 18-19 mpg and for me this is a good value for an SUV.

  • College Students first self bought car - 2009 Chevrolet Equinox

This car is definitely a good buy for me. I like to have a little space without having to shell out more money for a truck. It has been really reliable for me throughout the first year even though I do routine maintenance.

  • If you want better MPG, drive a compact! - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

This is a great little SUV. But it is just that, an SUV. If you want 30 MPG buy a compact. I downsized from a Ford V- 10 pick-up so obviously I am thrilled with the gas mileage. Other than one minor flaw, I love this SUV. Looked at the Pacifica and am glad I chose the Equinox.

  • Love this car - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I went from a 95 Silverado to this SUV. I love this car. The fit and finish is excellent along with the quality. It has plenty of power and the mileage is very good. I get a lot of comments about it. People like the style nad the inside layout. Some people thought it was a Lexus. Has great rear leg room. 5 star crash rating for front and side with side air bags was another reason to buy.

  • Truly Surprised - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I am a long term Honda/Acura ownner. Ive owned two Honda Accords and upgraded a few years ago to the Acura TL. I also had a Ford Explorer which I bought after Hurricane Katrina for obvious reasons. I never would have imagined my next vehicle might be a Chevrolet. I test drove Toyotas RAV4, the Toyota Highlander, the Honda CRV, and the Honda Element and researched several others before seeing very positive reviews of the Chevrolet Equinox and noticing its superior gas mileage. I went to the dealership and now own a Equinox LTZ. WOW Its even nicer than my 2006 Acura TL. Its awesome!
