Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • It is so-so - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We bought the Equinox when they were hard to find. At first we loved it but then it started having problems. Within the first 2 months my front struts were replaced and now it is in the shop waiting for a part, which cannot be found right now. Also go for the leather the cloth is cheap. I do like the sunroof and we had a dvd put in and like that. My suggestion is wait for next years model so all the kinks can be worked out.

  • Navigation interface problems on older phones - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

Be prepared to buy a better phone if you want the Map Navigation to display and have good sound on the directions. iPhone 5 has a volume control problem and my directions are drowned out by the radio or music. iPhone7 no problem at all--works perfectly.

  • Great ride and value - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Bought new LT1, 4 cyl model two weeks ago. Much smoother and quieter than all other small SUVs I tested (Kia, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota). I was looking for a nice, small AWD with modern features. The 2011 Equinox provided this and much more. quiet ride, features and value.

  • Good everyday car - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

After 2,500 miles in my Equinox, the only problem to speak of is that I have to really slam the rear hatch or I get a "rear access open" light on the dashboard. Im averaging 26.7 mpg -- not as much as I hoped, but good. Wish I would have gotten the rearview camera, because backing up can be an adventure. Overall, this car is a great value for the money.

  • What happened to the gas mileage? - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I love driving this car. It has a great ride to it There is plenty of room inside and I get compliments on the car all the time. I feel the inside could have been more spruced up, but the only problems I find are the way too low cup holder and armrest and the cheap looking pull out cup holders in front and back. I like having the window controls on my right and I find the entire stereo system teriffic. I love XM satelite radio. My only real disappointment is the gas mileage which was one of the main reasons I decided to try an SUV rated at 19/25mpg. I am getting anywhere from 12.5 to 15 in city driving and a not too bad 19-21 on the highway.

  • Chevy hits it big with Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We bought the AWD Equinox in June 2004. It is a solid vehicle and a joy to drive. My wife needed a vehicle that she could depend on as she drives across a mountain to work. The Equinox has met and surpassed our expectations, expecially in snow and bad weather. I was driving a 4 wheel drive Chevy Tracker behind my wife in the Equinox and I was sliding more than she. Now we find out the Equinox has a 5 star impact rating for front and side collions. We are very happy with the SUV!

The vehicle is fun to drive and overall great. It would be terrific for it to receive better gas mileage.

Living in the snow belt I love this thing. Kinda plain but has all the essentials. 7.5k no problems knock knock.

I love the way this vehicles feels when I drive it.I feel safe in this vehicle because of the five star ratings. The gas mileage is great. I love the carge room

  • Good looking with a Solid Build - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

The looks of the vehicle a really sharp. The AWD makes it really safe feeling on wet roads. Better than average gas mileage is a huge plus for a SUV and it doesnt break the bank when you go fill up. Noise from the front pillars and the cup holder gets in the way of the parking brake. I think Chevy did a good job with this truck. Some small improvements and this truck cant be beat. Very Happy....
