Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

I just love this vehicle. It has so many neat features. This is the first vehicle Ive owned with a sunroof which I enjoy very much. With a 5 star crash rating and dual stage air bags, I feel much safer than my previous SUV, a 2000 Blazer. I got 26MPG on my first highway trip which was 6 MPG more that old SUV.

Chevrolet came very close to having a very nice car. It needs to be a little more solid and have a little less plastic. Overall this is a very nice car for up to 4 adults and 1 child or two adults with 3 children.

  • Gas Mileage Awful - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

My wife and I bought a 2011 Equinox after spending weeks looking at crossovers. Build quality is top notch and the ride is like floating on a cloud. The only complaint I have is the gas mileage. Most of our driving is in town so we expected it to be on the low end of the range but 15 mpg in town is ridiculous. Highway mileage runs about 26 mpg, which is so-so. After 2000 miles we get 17.4 mpg average. We are both grandparents and dont race around the streets like its Indy.

I loved the Equinox the first time I saw it. The test drive sold me. Very smooth ride, lots of room and comfort. Handles highway and local driving, with no problems at all.

This is a fleet car/company car for me. I have owned Hondas for a long time and would have gotten a Toyota Camry had it been an option for me. But I tell you, I have not had this car in the dealer ever for work. 30k miles and nothing wrong? For an American car? That is unheard of. Very impressed with this car.

  • Still Love it, love it, love it - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I wrote back in Nov. of 09 singing the praises of the 2010 Equinox. I havent changed my mind. I took my 700 mile trip and the Nox performed fantastic! I got 29 mpg on the highway. I expect that it will improve with time. I understand there is a recall on some 59,000 Noxs due to a problem with the HVAC system. Im hoping I wont get notified that I need to take my Nox to the dealership. So far, everything is going great and I expect it will remain the same. I still think the Equinox is a wonderful SUV, and I have many family and friends that love the styling and looks! Great job Chevy!

  • So Far So Good - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

The exterior appearance sold me. However, a test drive drive was required to remove all doubt. Pleasantly surprised with the comfort in comparison to other rides in SUVs. Sound system features becomes simple after a few uses. Great pickup; stops well. SUV looks great in black and white. Other colors not appealing with the dark grey front and rear bumpers. Very roomy in the front and back seats. Chose durable fabric seat covers. Rear seat head rest should be softer. Rear storage space ideal; especially with the adjustable shelf. Not a car for gas conscious people.
