Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Great Vehicle - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We are long time SUV owners from Jeeps to Tahoes. The Equinox gets great fuel economy with good power. Great useable space inside, back seat legroom is outstanding with sliding rear seat. XM Onstar 6 disc CD are powerful. Unique exterior design looks like nothing else on road. Wide stance and larger tires make a smooth car-like ride and handling. We compared all the competition and the Equinox was the clear winner when all features and financing were reviewed. I would highly recommend the vehicle. The 5 star safety rating is another bonus.

  • Best kept secret gm ever had - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We bought our Equinox LT FWD after test driving two others. I traded my 2003 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab for it. The room is unbelievable! One really must see it and feel it to appreciate it. The gas milage and lack of room were two of the major factors in getting rid of the Nissan. We have only gone through one tankful but I must say we are averaging 21 city/highway. The ride and handling are superb.

  • Great design - decent performance - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Only three weeks so far, but mostly loving it. Outstanding exterior styling (looks great in Salsa!), smart interior styling which is mostly functional, and adequate performance. Accelleration is decent and the very smooth 5-speed tranny makes good use of the torque. I traded in my BMW 325i for this vehicle because I needed 4WD, and storage space and I wanted a reliable vehicle that was inexpensive to own. This SUV looks smart and expensive on the outside and its highly maneuverable exterior size belies its spacious interior. If it remains as trouble free as my other two Chevrolets have been Ill be more than satisfied for many years to come.

  • Equinox LS AWD - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The Equinox LS AWD has proven to be an exceptional value. It has alot of nice features such as cruise control and tinted windows and it handles well for the vehicles size. It is a nice addition for someone like myself wanting an larger SUV but not wanting the higher price ranges. The only problem I experienced was backing the vehicle up. I discovered it has a blind spot on the corners of the rear window so it is neccessary to always use the side mirrors when manuvering the Equinox out of a tight spot such as a parking garage spot to avoid any colision with something lower than the vehicle such as a small child.

  • Good Experience so far - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Took delivery early April and have 1800 miles as of end of May. No problems to date, rides well. Only fault would be inability to see clearly when backing out of a parking space into on coming traffic. Have yet to completely trust camera in this situation as it appears to only look back not to the sides.

Fun to drive, decent mileage but could be a little better. Love the way it handles, pickup and room in the interior. Love the 5 speed tranny, always keeps you in power band and passes easily at all speeds Looks of a Lexus 330 SUV but the price of a Chevy and we are a Chevy family. Great stereo w mp3 player

  • Outstanding value - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The new Equinox is spacious for its class and relatively inexpensive. Interior space is excellent. The engine is responsive. Its ride is firm and comfortable. Front seats offer excellent support. Three average size adults fit in the back easily. Rear storage is ample. The sound system, including XM satellite radio, is good but there are too many controls. The window controls only on the center console take getting used to. However, a good place to have them if you have young children. Overall, at under $30,000 fully loaded, this is an outstanding value.

  • Equinox is Great - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Had to wait 10 weeks from order to delivery. WAIT WAS WORTH EVERY DAY. Styling of exterior is outstanding. Stereo system remind me of the reverberation units of the early 60s which makes it sound great without getting the premium system. Gas mileage averaged 24.6mpg on our most recent trip. With the window and front deflector accessories added, my wifes friends tell her it looks sassy (GOOD).Worth every penny.

  • Great Investment - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have owned my Equinox for exactly 1 month and I love it. It gets great gas mileage, its easy to drive, the steering is comfortable. The XM Satellite radio is fabulous. The interior, while some products could stand to be a bit higher in quality is all in all an excellent design, futuristic, comfortable and sleek and stylish. The exterior of the car adds to its appeal and I get nothing but compliments on it. The AC works great, and especially now since its near 100 outside. The driver seat offers comfort and 6 way adjustments. The dash is easy to read, and it has ample cargo in the rear. Lighting is great, and added features like autohead lights.
