Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Great vehicle, cant get past a few item - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Overall I like the vehicle. Drives nice, great mileage, many features. Bluetooth, OnStar, backup camera, USB make traveling much more enjoyable. Only 600 miles but I average about 29 on the highway.

  • Very poor quality - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox

The quality and attention to detail is deplorable the dash board and door panels are totally out of allignment and of different thickness 11mm on driver side and 4 mm on passenger side the vehicle looks as if it had a very poor repair after an accident to the front end

  • Equinox 2005 - love it! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

For the money it is quite impressive. I like the fact that they kept women in mind when designing it. Just little things, but they mean a lot. Not a sportscar, but certainly fun to drive, and quite comfortable to ride in. Im getting 24 miles per gallon. Since its only one month old, I obviously dont have any idea about maintenance - but as far as performance and comfort, it gets an A rating from me.

Bought our new sport last week. This vehicle is a runner! And looks good doing it. Sounds good, too. Handling is great. Interior could be a little more plush, but is adequate. Fuel mileage is just average. Overall a great car. Im glad we bought it.

  • Great Alternative to Traditional SUV - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

The Equinox has been great, no mechanical problems/defects to-date. AWD is great for winter driving.

Made three trips to 2 dealers before purchasing my vehicle. Waited 10 weeks and picked it up the 1st week of January, 2010.(Present mileage-4,800) Forget any preconceived notions about this vehicle that you might have. Quite simply,it lives up to and beyond my expectations. The On-Star turn by turn nav is amazing and makes me wonder why anyone would spend $2K on the built-in nav. The blu-tooth feature is exceptional in sound quality and ease of use. The seats are way beyond the comfort of my previous Hondas. Styling, handling and engine performance are first rate. Mileage is avg, about 23 in mixed urban driving. Car is both quiet and smooth on the road. GM sent this one out of the park.

  • Not for big butts - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox

seats are for smaller people if your a big guy or gal , seats tend to me more narrow.

  • Great buy, no regrets, go for it! BEST small SUV - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Amazing car, handles much better than CRV, especially on a highway. Very quite and smooth, comfortable ride. Gas mileage is also great, as advertised. Electronics and dash board instrumentation is light years ahead of any other compact SUV. Interior is well designed and does not feel cheap unlike Nissan Rogue and Subaru Forester which both. Options packages are well thought of and not a rip off like with Hondas etc. GM included all the basic convenience into basic models and did not make 1 or 2 desperately wanted option available on premium trim levels only. I got exactly what I need without paying for extra stuff which I dont. Dont think any further, Equinox is not perfect but the best!

  • Bye bye CR-V. - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

I was hesitant about going American but Im so glad I did. At first I test drove the Acura rdx, Ford escape & edge, I looked at the hyundi (but couldnt make myself drive it, just looked to cheap) than. I drove the Chevy. Love at first drive. The car is smooth, quiet & looks are impressive. My biggest complaints on the Honda were road noise & overall feel, it started to feel clunky after awhile, so the Chevy was a welcomed change. It also has features the other cant touch. Like when I saw a fire, I hit onstar & was able to ask them where it was in proximity to my location & my home. The rep was able to get me around all the drama & made me feel much better to know it wasnt my complex

  • Not for me - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I want to start by admitting I am a little bias coming from a minivan that offered space and those little things I just assumed where standard on a vehicle. To begin, I bought my Equinox based on different reviews I read and the commericals, very compelling. So I take full responsiblity for not looking closer and asking a few extra questions. Firstly, the gas milesage is horrible. I tried using the "eco" button but that seems to open a valve and even more gas falls out. My minivan is 10 years old and doesnt use as much gas. Secondly, the backseat does not have air vents. In order to cool off or heat up a car, you have to either freeze or burn the front passengers. WHY?? I did not pay attention there were no vents in the back. This and the gas mileage are what bothers me most and I would give the care back tomorrow if I could. Thirdly, storage is non-existent, if you want to grocery shop for a large family, not for you. Fourth, I test drove a 2015 but bought a 2016. Where is my CD player, who moved it. I feel this designed is to force you to pay for Sirrus XFM, I dont want to. Overall, I am not happy. I did not mark it down pass the three stars because I should have done better homework.
