Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Awesome SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This car not only performs great but it looks great. I think it looks so much better than the more expensive MDX. On long trips this roomy interior is the best. The engine is quiet. This is by far Chevys best SUV yet.

  • GOOD SUV AND GOOD PRICE RANGE - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I just bought this nice SUV a few days ago, havey known about the reliability yet. It has a smooth powertrain and lively take off. Quite in town driving and comfortable freeway ride. Noticeble wind noice from the windshield. I like the FWD better than the AWD which provide more take off power and smooth driving performance on the good surface road. Good MPG compare in the same class.

  • My awsome chevy NOX - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

The 2006 Chevy Equinox is a great SUV to have. It has the most appealing exterior and interior design than any of its other competitor. It is a real Chevy truck. With on demand AWD, its perfect. As a mom, Ive seen the difference we had since we traded our 2002 Toyota Rav4. The kids dont complain about the rear seat legroom. There is enough cargo space. The LT model is great. The Equinox is a strong, confident, SUV. It is the best SUV in its class. Looks almost like the Acura MDX but is a lot cheaper. Equinox looks expensive. Its a great buy!

  • Worst Chevrolet Vehicle Ever - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

My family has owned Chevrolet Vehicles for over 60 years and the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is the WORST vehicle weve ever owned! It has been in for recalls and "special policy bulletins" for Cam Shaft Position Sensor, Transmission, Oil Consumption, and now the Catalytic Converter (oh and how convenient, they cover the converter, but not the sensors connected to the converter...which are another $400+) and several issues. It stalled in heavy traffic, is sluggish at times, and nothing but a constant headache. Stay away from this vehicle at all cost...Chevrolet has lost my business forever, I will never own another Chevrolet product again!

  • On a trip w/ 06 Nox - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

Have had vehicle for 7 weeks. Took trip from Colo. to Cal., went about 2400 miles r/t. Avg 21.6 mpg. Most driving was at or over 75mph on I-70 & I-15. Drove into head winds at times. Great vehicle. Comfortable. Easy, very easy, to drive. Good handling on snow packed mountain passes (in CO.) and off-road desert trails (in Ca.) didnt push it to the limit tho. Didnt need to as Nox AWD seems to have good traction control on all sorts of road conditions if its driven reasonably. In the back of my mind the biggest concern is the long term quality of the Chinese factory built engine. Engine purrs right now, will know more in 5/6 years or so. Hopefully not my last Chevy.

  • Very Pleased - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I sometimes think that I made a bad purchase then realize how great of an SUV this is. Other than a few minor flaws, such as the leather wrinkling so easy and the center consule so close to my leg. The Equinox provides excellent pickup for 185hp and superior styling. Most SUVs in this class dont compare at all. I love this car and hope that I will love it till the end of my SmartBuy. I have trust that this is an excellent car. Im not to worried about it breaking down ever and if it does il just press that little button.

  • Really Nice Smaller SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I decided on a smaller SUV after driving a Trailblazer and Explorer since 1998. The Equinox exterior style is most impressive, and many of its features, especially AWD, is great. Excellent traction when accelerating on wet pavement, and comfortable to drive. Good bang for the buck.

  • Best Buy - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Fun to drive. Tracks great. Decent gas mileage. Very comfortable. Satellite phone expensive. Satellite radio great. Good in the snow. A great radio system, with 6 CD changer, AM/FM who cares? I use satellite radio all the time. Could have a little more power. Side view is nicer than the Lexus. A lot of people think Im driving a Lexus. Front and back views----no good. Warrenty not good enough. 3/36. The power seat is a joke. You have power in the bottom and still have to manually tilt the back rest. If you have the sun/ moon roof open and all the windows are closed, it sounds like there is a helocopter above you from the wind at 26 to 34 mph.

  • not happy - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

its a gas saver but we had the equinox for at least 3 months. The headliner sagged then the transmission is out for the 1st time. Now we got the equinox back from the shop it took 2 weeks for us to get it back, no more then 5 hours later back to square 1 with the transmission.

I got one 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it. I had been looking for a new car for a few months and waiting for this one to come out. I am so happy that I did.
