Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Very good overall but lacks performance - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I love my Equinox, its very good looking and comfortable as well as spacious but I think we can do with a little more horsepower and torque. It looks fast and sporty but looks its all it has in performance. Overall, Im very happy with my SUV.

  • ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

After months of shopping, I was completely unhappy with the options of the smaller SUVs that were available. My salesman told me that they were coming out with a "transformed" 2010 Equinox soon and I thought I would wait and see. I went to Chevys website and saw the info on them and loved it immediately. I anxiously awaited the arrival to the dealerships. I went out right away to take a look at one and searched for days to find it in blue at a nearby dealership. Drove both 4cyl and 6cyl. The 4 is nice, good pick up, but had to get the 6 after driving them both. I love this vehicle. It was well worth waiting for! Great vehicle for the price.

I was shopping for a new small SUV and the dealer i went to is a Toyota/ Chevy Dealer I went in search of a Rav 4 and had not even considered the Equinox or any chevy for that matter. The salesman told to look at this Equinox and keep an opened mind. And Am sure glad he showed me this. It far exceeds my expectations and spanks both the CR-V and Rav-4.

  • Better my Equinox than a Suburban - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Its a great looking vehicle for the price. It looks better than a Lexus 330.Fun to drive. Good on long drives. I drive a lot of miles and this a perfect SUV for it. Save me gas over that huge gas guzzler Suburban.

Very comfortable ride; priced well; drives and handles like a v8; as much fun to drive as my old Camaro

  • Great little truck - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

  • looks great - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The vehicle is very roomy and has a very nice ride. The rear hatch is very difficult to close and normally takes 2 or 3 tries to close, the rear doors are about the same and take some effort even with the windows down. The gas milage was very disappointing we average about 20 to 21 highway and 15 to 17 in rural driving. I hesitate to think what city milage would be.

  • Gas mileage - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Overall am pretty happy with my Equinox. Although I am very disappointed in the gas mileage.... the best I have seen is 26mpg under interstate conditions. I have owned 3 Chevy v6s that have gotten better than that on the hwy...the one I traded for this vehicle was a Venture Minivan. and it got better than 28mpg under the same conditions..... I was hestitant to buy the 4 cylinder but did so because of the advertised mileage..... Consequently disappointed ...would have bought a 6 cylinder had I known!
