Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

My Chevy Equinox is the best car Ive ever owned. Its fun to drive and a very safe, reliable automobile. I look forward to many years with my car.

The gas mileage was not what the sticker said but then again what car does. I love driving it. It is very comfortable. It has nice power and rides smooth. I feel protected.

I started with the Edmunds site and started to receive information from local dealership. I was able to negotiate via text with a dealership close to work. I stated what I wanted and how much I was willing to pay and got it all done within less then a week.

I have been less than satisfied with my Equinox. I purchased it new in 2004. I have 13K miles and a nine page service record to go with it. Intermitent starting problems, steering column has been replaced 3 times! Clunk clunk noise in the rear. Stereo has been replaced. The drivers seat also replaced. Terrible highway gas mileage, and transmission sticks during acceleration.

  • Very impressive vehicle - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I cannot believe how nice this vehicle is compared to the competition. Anyone thinking that they will only buy a Honda and Toyota, needs to take a good look at this vehicle. They will not be disappointed. I want everyone to give Chevy a chance by looking at this product.

  • Good buy - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Purchased Dec 28th replacing a 2005 Hyundai Tucson. So far I am mostly loving it. The ride is very smooth and quite, love the gas mileage, Onstar and the stereo. Excellent behind the seats cargo space. Black interior is beautiful but does show dirt and dust quickly. Disappointed in a couple of items on the 2LT package, see below.

A good buy for the money. I looked at serveral SUVs and for the money, you can beat it. I like the front seat that folds down; the sliding rear seat and the gas milelage.

The Chevy Equinox is a stylish vehicle with plenty of room for a family of four, even teenagers. The cargo space is adequate for hauling plants and dirt for gardening. However, my transmission does not move smoothly between gears and the dealer said that that is normal. There is a definite catch as the gears move from first to second and second to third.

  • Pervious 2016 and 2014 terrain owner - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I purchased a 2018 equinox 11/30/17. I have previously owned a 2014 and 2016 terrain .Ive never had any complaints about those previous cars. I love the looks of the new equinox but the front seats are horribly uncomfortable .They are hard and the power button does not unjust the bottom tilt back enough. The seats are giving me back pain around town,I cannot imagine it on a trip. Both my terrains had the most comfortable seats I ever owned . The next problem is Im noticing the transmission at red lights, it almost feels like it stalls then when you give it the gas it hesitates to go kinda like the transmission slips. Ive only owned this car a few days todays December 2 Im really wondering if I can take it back . The start stop button is dumb if the door does not it automatically unlock. You still need your keys to unlock the car .you also cannot lock your car with the extra set of keys inside of it. What happens when your battery dies. Glad Im just a lease and not a long-term owner . Like they tried to compete with electric car this feature but fails that it only halfway works. The car also feels like its going to stall at stop signs and hesitates when you accelerate to go you can feel the transmission slip I assume. The front seats are horribly hard the bottom does not tilt far enough back. I really wanted to love this car a lot of new features are great in the looks are much better but they have some improvements to do .Owner of 2 terrains previously ,2014 and 2016 that I loved and never had one complaint. I am disappointed 😢

  • Great SUV without the Price - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Great things about this "small SUV" include great response in steering, quick and agile like a car (comparible to the Impala which I have also owned), and great styling, especially from looking head on.
