Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • This is my last Chevrolet - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

20 years ago, I was the guy with the T- shirt that said, I would rather push my Chevy than drive a Japanese car. This vechicle converted me. I have always been a GM person. My next vechicle will be a Mazda, Toyota, or Honda. There is no quality. I have had several trips for warranty work. A door handle, a seat belt that wouldnt latch, a strut hatch, and now another seatbelt that wont latch. Now couple that with high road noise, very loud AC fan motor, and cloth seats that wont come clean.

  • Best vehicle i ever owned. - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I am so happy with my new Equinox. The fuel economy is great and it drives wonderful even in the snow. They were not kidding when they said 600 miles to the fill up.

  • Chevy Equinox a good buy - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I am very pleased with my 2006 Equinox LT AWD. The AWD is very good in snow and wet weather. The Equinox gave confidence in December snow on remote two tracks in the back woods. My comparison is to my previously owned AWD cars: Audi A6, Explorer & Chrysler T&C. My only concern is the steering, with a large turning radius and light road feel. For the price range is is well equipped compared to other models. I rent cars while traveling on business and have experienced many car-based SUVs. Aceleration is good. I get 20 mpg on highway (75 mph) , 23 mpg if I drive 65. Ride is quiet, site lines are good. Radio is outstanding.

  • UPSET and discouraged in MD - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Traded my 2007 Equinox model in for a 2011 LT1 two days ago (1/17). Drove the vehicle home w/ 63 miles. Drove to work the next a.m. and the check engine light came on 10 miles into my trip. Called onstar for diagnostics; found emmisions sensor problem and called the dealer, Adams Chevrolet, HdG, MD. Took the vehicle into the dealer and after waiting two hours i was told the emission sensor wire was stretched, they had to order a part. Drove a rental home. Called the dealer this evening, still not fixed; service told me GM shipped the wrong part. Spoke with Store Mngr who told me a different story. I AM VERY UPSET. MY opinion: "Stay away from Adams Chevrolet, Hdg, MD and 2011 Equinox."

  • My Equinox Experience - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This truck is perfect for our family. The best feature is the adjustable rear seat. Somebody rear-ended me and I am renting a Jeep Cherokee. I am finding that the back seat of my Equinox has more room than the Cherokee. The Equinox is reliable, good on gas, not too big or small, and fun to drive. I love it.

  • I wish it had rims not plastic hub caps - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Overall I really enjoy my new SUV but for the price I paid I should have gotten rims and not plastic hub caps. It makes the SUV look cheap. I have to pay the extra expense to put new rims and tires on it. Also one big flaw it has I had my vehicle for two days and my little sister who is 9 years old got into the back and shut the door and got her seat belt on. I heard some air and had my sister who is 33 who was sitting up front in the passenger seat check her door and then she looked in the side mirrow and noticed it was my sisters door, then I had realized that my new vehicle did not have the system for the doors, only the back hatch light up when a door is ajar. They need to fix that.

  • GM got this one right - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Just test drove this, arrived today at local Chevy dealership. Test drove 8- 9 cars in the past two weeks, and this is hands down the best. The features on the base LS for the price are amazing. Interior is classy and comfortable, reminding me of the Mazda 3 hatch we test drove. Fuel economy is unheard of for a non-hybrid SUV. Power was good in the 4 cylinder. 6-speed tranny! Very quiet ride. Nice exterior. Nice, long-lasting tires standard (720 treadwear). Vehicle computer seems like it would take some getting used to. GM has a hit on their hands, and not one second too soon. Blows Honda CRV and Toyota RAV 4 out of the water. Dealership was great to deal with, will return to buy one soon.

  • Buyer Beware...mileage is terrible! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I purchased this vehicle for its versatilty since I live close to the mountains, and I wanted something with decent gas mileage. It has nice design and good features for the most part. The rear headrests are too high and cause a horrible blind spot, and the leather seats are a little cheap looking. It would be nice if the rear seat folded down flush with the rear cargo area. But my biggest complaint is the gas mileage. I am lucky to get 15 mpg! If I had to do it all over again, I would buy a Rav4 or an Escape. The mileage is very disappointing!

I bought an Equinox about three weeks ago and I absolutly love it! When people see the car they can not believe the features it has for the price.
