Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

Gave my 2003 Impala to the kids with 76,000 miles and picked up this Equinox. I work as a Mfg Rep, on the road a lot. Love the passenger fold down seat - I place my laptop on it when Im on the road. I use Velcro on the seat and laptop to hold in place. Everybody laughs and then looks at it and agrees with the idea. Great visibility. Excellent ride. Quiet. Mileage not as good as Impala which was excellent for big car but mileage is decent. Nice compliments from friends. Car is very roomy with decent storage. Sliding rear seat is as good as advertised. This car was for sale - Red Tag - for just $18,075. Used my GM Card earnings to knock off another $1,800. Great value.

  • so far, so good - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I just purchased this vehicle a few weeks ago, but so far I am very impressed. I looked at the Saturn VUE and a few bigger SUVs. I couldnt decide what I wanted. Then I looked at the Equinox LT FWD and decided that was it! Its not as powerful as the VUE, but I like the steering and ride better. The sliding rear seat is really handy as well. The styling beats all small and medium SUVs IMO.

I bought an original Equinox a 2005 when the first came out (which I loved) so when I was in need of another car I knew I would go to another Equinox. This car has been one problem after another. 1) During a family trip the wiper motor stopped working during a horrific rain storm ( luckily went to an awesome dealer wished I lived in that state). 2) the transmission went on my way to get groceries the original dealer wasnt real accommodating so had to go another which was ok - wasnt great experience and 3) now while driving its stalls - really how safe is this car. Im so scared to get it in now - I cant express my disappointment in Chevy & GM

Had it for 6 weeks now and still very much impressed. Very smooth ride, and handling is quite good. I love the view out of the large windshield, sitting up higher than other cars. Reviews say the steering is too easy, I think the steering feel is perfect. For the money, you cant beat it!!!!!!!!!

This is an excellent vehicle. It gets pretty good mileage in town and is ver comfortable. I have to rent vehicles for work often. I have driven CRVs, Escapes and Jeeps. I always love to get back into my Equinox. It is much better than all of the rest.

Fun vehicle to drive, great in the snow. We got one with all of the goodies. Havent had any problems at all with it. Its not a powerhouse but its power is more than sufficient (I wouldnt tow my 7000# camper with it, but thats not why I bought it, I have a Tahoe for that). The seats in the back are a little stiff but comfortable. I highly recommend this vehicle (so far....well see what happens in a few years...).

  • Amazing SUV! - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

We were in the market for an SUV and after visiting several dealerships to look at the RAV4, CRV and Santa Fe among others we decided to stop in at the Chevy dealer to look at the Equinox. There was not a single one on the lot...all sold out. After calling about 10 dealerships we finally found one and took one for a test drive. We fell in love immediately. The quality of materials, performance and interior/exterior appearance was better than anything else we tested. It just feels like youre driving a car worth thousands more. Bought a silver one that same week and were so happy we did. Highly Recommended!

We just took a weekend trip of over 600 miles. Our Equinox performed fantastically. The ride was smooth and quite. The new electronic steering is great on curves. The small gas tank will take some getting used too.

The Chevy Equinox is a comfortable, well-handling SUV. It handles bumps more smoothly than the Ford Escape, which I previously owned. There are a couple of downfalls however, the light interior seats show liquid stains very easily and there are many blind spots throughout the vehicle.

Had the vehicle for 1,100 miles, discovered no oil in engine--Engine used excess oil, engine replaced by GM after some haggling, China must have forgotten to put in the piston rings Transmission Slips from time to time at low speeds Seat difficult to adjust to a comfortable position Left Arm Rest to low to properly rest elbow and hold steering wheel at cross member location of steering wheel Window seal too high and slants not allowing proper height adjustments and making elbow slip off easily Driver Seat difficult to adjust to a comfortable position Radio controls difficult to reach comfortably, purchase the steering wheel control option, it is worth it
