Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Love our 2013 Equinox! GREAT VALUE! - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

I purchased this vehicle for my family as a family Christmas gift. We immediately have fallen in love with this vehicle. The bells and whistles it offers are hands down top of the line and other similar vehicles do not offer them as a standard feature. This car drives and feels very safe with all the safety features it has on it. Six air bags, all disc brakes, On Star, Rear backup camera. This is a very comfortable ride. The front seats fit like a glove and there is so much rear leg room and space for people to stretch on long road trips. My wife rides in the back often because she likes the overall comfort while my son and I ride up front. The My Link system is stae of the art as well. A+

  • Great Car But Has Rough Idle at Times - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I got my 2012 Chevy Equinox back in April of 2012. I love the car but at times the car has a rough idle, and is even worse with the "ECO" button on. It doesnt get the gas mileage that GM has promised.

Things I love about our 2012 4 cly.Chevy AWD Equinox 2LT,Seating,backup camera, inside space, Leg room, Heated seats, Nav. and XM radio, with a Very nice Powerful sound system, goes Great in the deep snow, surprised me. Gas mileage is good for AWD, but wish I would have got the 6 Cyl. Its Not that much diff. in mileage and the Extra 100 HP would be nice at times, like getting on the interstate and you need to get up to 70 MPH fast to get With the flow, but oh well, Next time I will buy bigger Engine, unless they Turbo charge the 4 Cyl. Ride is very smooth and handles Great.

  • Disappointed - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Like most people researching this car, I was shocked to see how many bad things were being said. I trusted Chevy and was happy to go with an American made vehicle. I bought my 2011 Equinox in 2010 and had no idea the torubles to come. Within two years, I had trouble with the censor, needed a new timing belt, high-tech water pump, spark plugs, engine needed to be cleaned, and trouble with traction. I could not believe the issues i encountered. It was a waist of time and money. In the end, I decided to go with a different car and lost out on $5,000.00. I wrote a letter to Chevy, hoping my voice would be heard. Lets see if Chevy is able to instill trust once more. Very disappointed.

  • 2012 Eqinox Just OK - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I have owned my 2012 Equinox - 4 cylinder/FWD - since may of 2012. I have never gotten more than 29.5 MPG highway, not close the 32 Chevy quotes. (In fact, I got 22 MPG on one tank - some city miles spoem highway). Very disappointing. The FM radio has reception issues and fades in and out on occaision. It is a nuisance more than anything.

  • Equinox Road Noise - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Overall the vehicle is not too bad. The tire road noise is terrible. On the coarser paved roads the noise is very noisey and distractive. The vehicle is equipped with Michelin Latitude Tour tires that are also terrible in the snow. I will be looking for new tires if that doesnt remedy the problem, a new vehicle

  • Feeling discouraged - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I recently bought this equinox over the summer practically brand new as far as mileage because i fell in love with it when i rented it for a month. Since i purchased it i have slowly began to experience problems with it which are so depressing and are making me consider giving it up. My most recent experience with Chevy was my check engine light. I brought it in to get checked. They told me it was my Mass airflow sensor that needed to be changed in which they tried to charge me over $600 to replace. I took it to another shop and ofcourse replaced it for under $200. I payed Chevy for checking it and telling me what the problems were but now my car is shaking and stalling. So what now?

  • FWD HORRIBLE in the snow. - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Love my new Equinox overall. Very stylish, roomy and lots of fun features. The back up camera is a plus and added with OnStar I have a reliable, comfortable driving experience. There are two things I do not like about the vehicle...one is driving on wet or snow covered roads. I elected not to pay the extra for the AWD and am kicking myself for it. I figured for the amount of time I spend on bad roads I really didnt need the AWD. Well, even on the city roads when the least bit wet or a dusting of snow and I feel like there is no control to the vehicle at all! And secondly, the blind spots are real bad.

  • dimming of interior lights - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I know I can not be the only Equinox owner with the crazy intermittent dimming of the interior lights..at times it is so dark you cant read the speedometer..I understand the concept of dimming lights but this goes beyond the normal. I have had the sencor replaced 3 times and told this is normal..has anyone else monitored their dash as carefully as I have..this cant be a normal occurance..and the snow senor pops up at 37 degrees no matter whether its in the garage or on the road..this dimming is a big issue. And the gas milage is over-rated- poor
