Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • LTZ AWD 3.6L V6 from Canada - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox

Mine is equipped with the 300hp V6, loads of power and is a pleasure to drive. The 4 cyl just doesnt have what it takes for me. Opt for the V6. Nice quite ride and handles good. Nice driver on the long trips. Ours is fully loaded and love the theater effect lighting at night. Overall a great SUV. Some complain no CD player.... well get with the now people !!! CDs are gone. Why load CDs and have maybe 100 songs when you can use mp3 plug in and have a 1000 songs or use your smart phone, already using Bluetooth anyways. Awesome SUV and I highly recommend it.

  • My favorite SUV - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I have owned Isuzu Rodeo and Ford Expedition. This is by far my favorite SUV. Traded in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo recently. I love this vehicle.

  • Outstanding!!! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have had many vehicles over the years and I feel I know what I like in a vehicle. Being on the Fire Department and working for the Sheriffs office, I need to be able to get to work or get to a fire call regardless if its snowing or sunny weather. I also have plenty of room for all my fire gear plus my passengers and any groceries, shopping bags that we happen to pick up along the way. Its a wonderful SUV. I had a brand new Mustang, had it for a year then fell in love with the Equinox! The only thing I recently found out about is the cooling system needs to be changed due to the antifreeze and the materials used in the hoses not compatible....but thats minor and covered.

  • Retirement Car Not! - 2017 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

First of all, I love 98% of my new 2017 Chevy Equinox. I have been a Ford person all my life. But, in researching for a new car, we found the Equinox had everything we wanted at a lower price. However, there are two things that I dont like about my new car. The first thing is the car tank on the passenger side. I bought this car to be my retirement car. I wanted to have my car paid for before I retire and have time to enjoy the ride. But I dont find it to safe if I am alone to get out of my car to go around to the other side to pump gas. Please make all new cars with gas tanks on drivers side. I also had the opportunity to ride in the back seat. I didnt realize that there were no air conditioning vents in the back. When having " hot flashes ", you need air. The passengers up front were freezing so we could get enough air in the back! Please make sure that there are air vents in the back for passengers! I have learned that the 2018 Chevy Equinox have these things corrected. Looks like I needed to research a little more for my retirement car!

  • Nice Crossover - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Never considered the previous version, when shopping for new small crossover. Went to the Toyota dealership and saw the Equinox out from the the Chevy dealer across the street. Much nicer in than all competition. Very quiet, seems to have plenty of power with the 4 cyl and gas mileage for vehicle of this size is very good. Interior is much nicer than anything I have seen in this class and price range, even compares well to our 2009 Volvo. Overall if you are looking for a smallish crossover the Equinox is worth checking out
