Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Lovin it!!! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I purchased the "Nox" on February 14th fully loaded (heated Leather front seats, sunroof, XM Radio, 6 disc CD changer, etc). No regrets so far, I thought about the Nissan Murano but I would have had to pay at least another 10,000 for all of the options I have with the "Nox". I get lots of compliments and its so fun to drive. The only thing that is concerning me right now is that there is a noise coming from the brakes. Leather is the only way to go in this vehicle, you wont regret it. Love it!!!!

Have only less than 300 miles so far but I have been very happy. I really wanted a V6 AWD but there werent any available at this dealership and frankly I was tired of car shopping so I went ahead with the 4 cyl without AWD on a 2 yr lease. Figured if I wasnt happy Id only have to deal with it for 2 yrs. For the price, this is a great SUV. The Equinox is roomy, handles very nicely, seats are very comfortable, especially with the 8 way power driver seat. Its quiet, has a nice interior and is spacious. The 2018 redesign is smaller which is why I went with the 17 - roomier seating and more cargo space. I also like the reclining rear seats, which I dont believe the 2018 had. Another favorite thing is that the sun visors, when moved to the side window have a sliding capability so that they can actually block out the sun. Would I recommend this vehicle? Yes definitely. I am already thinking that at the end of the lease I will keep this vehicle.

My wife and I did alot of research on this vehicle. We took one for a test drive and gave it a 9.8 out of ten. Within hours of the test drive we purchased one (and we are not ones to make purchases like this so quickly). Currently we have a 2000 Pontiac Montana and were looking for a second vehicle that was as good or better than the Montana (and the Montana is very good vehicle). Well this vehicle is better. Better ride, handling, comfort (lots of legroom especially in the sliding rear seat) and power. Definately a vehicle worth considering. So who gets to drive the Montana and who gets to drive the Equinox?

  • Great Ride - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The Equinox is great on gas. Coming out of a Blazer I feel like I ride forever before filling up again. With automatic 4-wheel drive I no longer worry about when is the right time to engage 4-wheel drive, although it takes some getting used to the first few times it kicks in. My only complaint - the headrests on the back seat are too high, making it difficult to see out of the rear window.

After owning it less than a week we decided to drive from Florida to Indiana. Comfort and driving was superb with great visibility. We love it

  • Great SUV from Chevrolet - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

We had been shopping around for a SUV and our choices came down to the Equinox and CRV. As this was our first SUV purchase, we wanted as much as we could get for the money. After driving both and looking at all the features, the Equinox was a better value than the CRV. We love it. The exterior styling stands out from other SUVs. The interior is laid out well. All the controls are within reach and the steering wheel controls are great. The sliding rear seat gives rear passengers so much leg room, plus sliding it all the way forward gives you more cargo room. Chevrolet has done a good job in designing this new SUV and with all the standard features it competes well with the imports.

This is the vehicle i take to work every day. This vehicle has great gas mileage and I get stopped in parking lots all the time from people asking questions about my vihicle.

Good Value. Purchased the dark silver metallic LS AWD. Love the look of the Equinox. It uses as much gas at my V6 Ford Explorer that I traded in for it. Thought gas mileage would be a little better but it is not bad. The car is very practical and pretty. Seat padding could be better but not bad. Has good leg room in back. Deep tint glass is nice to have. I am happy overall with the Equinox.

  • I hate this SUV! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

When we bought this car we loved it. Now we hate it and I am seriously just waiting for it to die on us. This car has been to the Shop 5 times for the same problems. And we get the same response every time, "cant duplicate the problem on site - cant fix it" My husband and I were starting to think we were insane. I dont know how many people we have told not to but an Equinox. Now were are turned off from Chevys and american made cars all together after this junk box.

  • Beautiful Nox! You should buy a Nox! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Just purchased our Nox last march 22. It already has 4080 miles as of today. This is my first car. Its very comfortable to drive, just like driving a luxury sedan. Though Im only averaging 18 miles per gallon, I still find it OK for a 3.4liter engine. GM should find ways to eliminate the noise, especially when running at 70miles/hour.
