Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • classy looking suv - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

i do not find any of faults listed by consumer reports in this vehicle, such as poor fit items and poor quality plastics. (big deal). cup holders are only disappointment so far., we are enjoying it so far except the gas mileage is a little suspect right now.

  • Equinox - could be better - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I like the vehicle overall, it is fun to drive, looks good and the quality of construction is very good. The vehicle is a good size and has plenty of power. It rides well for an SUV and the AWD works excellent in snow. Head and leg room are good and the engine and transmission provide a nice smooth acceleration and power band.

  • Very impressed, good buy - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

We purchased the car in late February after waiting 8 weeks for delivery. We were nervous about a GM purchase, but this vehicle is all we had hoped for after 2 months of ownership. We love the style and its drivability. Interior is of great feel and appearance. We love the center console and it is in easy reach of the driver. The navigation system is amazing, we find the seating very comfortable and roomy. We admit we hope the mileage will improve but we have done little freeway driving at this point. The Equinox handled our spring Colorado snows storms with no issues. The quality of the sound system is impressive and easy to use. Congratulations Chevy you got the Equinox right.

  • Dont knock the nox! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought the nox about 3wks ago and so far so good. It has a spacious interior but the trim is a little cheesy. The engine has good pick up for typical driving. The ride is smooth and fairly quiet. I opted for thenox because I wanted the height of an suv for getting baby in&out of her carseat. I also wanted AWD for our N.Eastern winters. The Trailblazer was larger than what I wanted so the nox is the perfect size. I would call it a replacement suv for the Blazer/Jimmy as opposed to the Tracker. GM has come a long way w/this suv. A real contender for the Escape, Liberty, RAV-4 etc. Equinox is destined to be a top seller.

  • An excellent vehicle - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

A very nice, well made vehicle. With the V-6 engine it has lots of power. Computer shows a high of 36.4 MPG on recent trip. Mileage around town is between 18 and 22, depending on how must time is spent at traffic lights. I love everything about this vehicle. It has been trouble free and economical to own. The front seats are great for tall people and have great leg room. The only thing I would mark down slightly are the hardness of the front seats. They are not bad, but could be softer for a long trip. This is a well made and reliable car that is fun to drive.

  • New Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I was skeptical at first to purchase a new SUV on the market but this has to be one of the nicest rides Ive had in one of these cars. The gas is not as bad as larger SUVs and I havent found much difference in the speed in which I go through it as compared with my old car. I highly recommend this truck to anyone looking for the smaller SUV.

Ive only driven my Equinox under 300 miles. I like the way the automobile handles and the comfort of the interior. I worry about future rust and corrosion of the vehicle (see suggested improvement section).

  • Pros and Cons - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I love my car but there are a few issues I have. First of all, the CD player is a mess. I have already had one replaced and another replacement is on the way. The CDs get stuck in the player and will not come out. Second, light interior. I have had a light interior in cars before but never as easily stained as my Equinox i.e., my hair was wet when I got in the car and it made a water stain on the head rest that will not go away. Lastly, at times I have noticed the car will make knocking noises or jerk when I turn corners. The adjustable back seat is great! I can make extra room for the kids on long trips or make extra space in the back when I go shopping. Overall, great car!

  • I LOVE MY NOX!!!! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I love my Equinox. I read a lot of reviews about it and decided I needed to go find out for myself. Once I drove it.......I loved it! I thought with all of the bad reviews out there that this car was awful, but looked good. I test drove it on a Friday night and was there Saturday afternoon to pick it up! Ive only had it for 3 days, but I havent had any problems. I also chose to buy the demo because it was already "broken in". Due to this, I get great gas mileage! :-) My family loves it but couldnt believe I got rid of my sports car for a SUV!!! I would highly recommend everyone to buy one, but dont because I enjoy not seeing too many on the road. I like the looks I get! :-)
