Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

Great vehicle for the price, sporty and fun, seatbelts are added safety not found in most cars of this price, with lap/shoulder combo in all seats! Its very comfortable and roomy. I love the adjustable tray in the rear cargo area, and it converts to a table for tailgating. Radio controls are confusing for me, but I am in the over 30 group.

  • A winner for GM - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I have owned my 2010 Equinox for a month. I had the opportunity to take it on a 1400 mile trip which gave me excellent feedback performance wise in different driving conditions- interstate highway, city driving and driving in the mountains. In every case the 4 cyl was up to the challenge either in regular mode or Eco mode. I didnt really notice any difference in performance from one mode to the other- both have more than sufficient power for my needs. The gas mileage meets the expectations given for the 4 cyl. Both interior and exterior quality are big improvements over previous model years. Not only has the quality improved GM managed to lower the price across all Trim levels!

We sold our 2008 Saturn Vue Redline and purchased this Equinox. What an improvement. Amazing difference. Rides better, quieter, same power, and many more creature comforts. There are few options I probably wouldnt have opted for but with limited availability beggars cant be choosers.

  • Cant Wait for It!!! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Looking for a vehicle while at the Cleveland Auto Show and stumbled across the Equnox. Fell in love with the looks, style, price and backseat legroom. Took it for a test drive the next week and fell in love. Ordered one 03-20-04, the Spring Equinox and now just waiting its arrival. Will be back here to post after owning it for a while. Couldnt fairly judge performance or fun to drive categories fairly yet so went middle of the road with a 5.

I am 66" tall. This vehicle certainly takes care of me as far as leg room. The cargo area is excellent for a compact SUV, and the back seat room is well off also. In my opinion, the outside is very sharp looking, different from most, and I am impressed with that. Now the inside is average. I wouldnt even think of comparing the inside of that of a Lexus. Its a bit on the cheap side. Although, you get what you pay for. It rides decent, and the feel is good. The seats could be a bit more comfy. If outside style, decent leg and cargo room are your objectives, this vehicle is worth a look. If not, you should consider others. Gas hasnt been an issue. Lead foot equals low mpg.

Picked my Equinox up yesterday (7/13/04)...Fell in love with it when I first laid eyes on it.When I test drove it I couldnt believe the steering responsiveness and the ride smoothness.Havent had it long but so far I just love it.Time will tell about the reliability aspect but my initial feeling is that it is a well designed vehicle at a great value!

This is the best midsized SUV Ive ever had. It is way better than the Escape, Vue, Trailblazer, and Envoy. It is sporty. It almost looks like a Lexus/Mercedes Ive been told. It has a lot of power and room. It drives great. Its very quiet and comfortable. Its very sharp looking. I love my new Equinox LT.

Have driven this vehicle for close to 3,000 miles and I am really impressed by the build quality, not a rattle or squeak. Except for the not-so-large gas tank (its actually 13 gallons max), I would describe this SUV as perfect in every way. The drivetrain is smooth and flawless. With some lightfooted driving my gas mileage is close to 20 MPG during my daily commute from long island to downtown manhattan. GM really did their homework on the suspension design, its supple and handles beautifully. The only glitch so far has been an intermittent appearance of the check engine light, which goes away after using 89 octane fuel. So far alternating fill ups with 87 octane the light has stayed off.
