Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

Many compliments from friends and strangers. Great safety. Dad spun out on an iced over bridge and ended up sliding over an embankment past the bridge. (travelling at about 60 mph and did not see ice in time to slow down) I feel another vehicle would have rolled. No damage occured, amazingly, owing to luck and the stability of the Equinox.

My 05 Equinox was a good idea from GM. I still get EPA ratings for fuel and its been a very dependable ride. I had some oil leaks between 26K and 30K but were quick repairs at the dealer. The AWD feature is a blessing in the Colorado winters. Glad we got it!

I bought this car in December 2004 and have driven it in the city, on basic roads, and on the interstate. I have also driven this car through a major snow storm and this car blew me away by how it just rammed through the snow and kept a tight grip on the road throughout this storm. Mostly, the car has great shocks and it rides increibly smoothly. Im very pleased and impressed.

Being a mother of 3 and doing the house chores, I have experienced the new Equinox. From doing everything around the city from going to the cottage. Equinox is a great dependable SUV. Its big, roomy, and its...well..great!

Had the SUV for 6 months. Not one problem. Drives and handles beautifully. Lots of room to move all kinds things around, including lumber. Really a solid performer so far. My brother purchased a Chevy SUV first, he travels and has 20,000 miles on his. Not one warranty claim on his either. That is performance.

So far its been my wifes car, and has seen virtually no long highway drives, but the average mileage being displayed is 16.8mpg. I feel sick. I fully expected 20+ in town, and 25+ for the type of driving she does. Seemed like a great car, and is very nice, but I bought it for fuel economy and I feel cheated.

Power is decent, rides well. The turning radius is large. Excellent room for larger passengers, especially the back seat. Unlike many other vehicles, my knees do not hit the dashboard or back of the seat. Interior is better designed than other GM products. Great overall value.

Transmission has unusual shifts when compromising steep graded hills. Horsepower lacks muscle. Nice car for a Sunday drive on a flat road. Good looking exterior and comfort inside is also good.

wife and i put 800 mi. on vehicle. after returning from trip, i was slowing down for left hand turn. a-arm (axle) literally snapped, luckily at 15- 20 mph. left front wheel base was hanging off. 100 miles earlier, we would of been killed at 70 mph on interstate 90. very serios problem!!! question is, isolated incident???

  • My New MPG SAVER - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

This is my first smaller SUV, and so far it has been great, MPG is awesome, ride is quiet, I dont see a need for the V6, unless you tow, if not, go for the standard 4, save money and Gas. The difference in Horsepower and Torque isnt noticeable, less then 1 second 0-60mph. Purchased a 1LT equipped the same as a 2LT, minus the power driver seat and radio upgrade. Wish I could have gotten the radio upgrade, I am used to upgrading my radios in my cars and that would have done the trick. Standard radio seems ok so far, with 2 young kids, I sure it will be fine.
