For 2011, the Chevrolet Equinox's optional V6 now has E85 capability. Enhancements include heated cloth seats on 2LT models and a compass on LS models. A USB port, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity are now standard on 1LT models, and OnStar service has been upgraded to standard Directions and Connections (providing access to OnStar's navigation and information services) for a six-month trial period.

WORST VEHICLE EVER - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
By Pam - December 30 - 11:24 amI bought the car used from Carmax with 35,000 miles on it. Unfortunately I did not do much research, I loved the look of the car and went for it. The first 8 months were good. Then a self destruct button turned on and ever since January of 2016 Ive been in and out of the repair shop. Its never anything minor and all known issues to Chevrolet. However, they dont care about their customers so what the hell. The first incident I was driving in the middle of a snowstorm to pick up a friend from the airport. Out of no where the vehicle refuses to accelerate and some message comes us with stability trac, reduce engine power...turns out the throttle body needed to be replaced. Ok, theres $200 + tax deductible I should be good to go. Nope. The following month Im driving, no warning lights, no nothing and Im backing out of a driveway (I drive for UBER) and my car will not get into gear. Eventually I get out of the driveway and my car goes into limp mode...come to find out the TRANSMISSION went out at 42,000 miles!!!! Another $200 + tax deductible. The following month I get a regular oil change and 2 weeks later new tires and the mechanic tells me I have no oil in my car and suggested I get an oil change. Ummm excuse me, I just got one 2 weeks ago. Fortunately there was a "service bulletin" for this and Chevy replace the Pistons and Timing Chain. I dont understand why a recall was not done as this is a serious issue. Anywho, 2 weeks later I notice a huge oil spot in my parking spot....well one of the gaskets that was replaced was defective and had to go and have that replaced. The Chevy dealer tried charging me my deductible to get that replaced, but after pulling up paper work that this was covered under the repair done just two weeks ago, I should not have to pay. One would think my troubles would be over. Nope. Check engine light comes on for the Camshaft Position Actuator. Then I get a letter for yet another service bullet for the catalytic converter. However, Chevy will not fix it until it causes a problem. Just yesterday (Oct. 4, 2016) I had the Fuel Pump replaced as part of a recall. A recall Chevy did not make me aware of. I got that email from CARFAX. The amount of time I have to take off of work for this car to get replaced is absurd. I can only imagine what problem will arise next month. Do yourself a favor and avoid this car at all costs....You will pay more in the end.

Run from this SUV it is JUNK - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
By Stang 149 - December 28 - 10:00 amMy headliner has fallen down 3 times Plastic rocker molding fell off Engine knocking, car blowing blue/gray smoke, only getting 15-17MPG with regular fuel The car has been in the shop now for 2 weeks, with no real answers to the issues of poor MPG and the engine knocking. I was told it is "normal" for a new car to have blue/gray smoke coming from it until it is broke in. I have a meeting with GMs regional manager next week. RUN FROM THIS CAR! GM has not changed for the car company of the 1980s, they are still making junk (I will give them it looks better, dives better, and may use better materials) but the reliability and quality is still the same.

Piece of garbage!!! - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
By mharris - October 5 - 1:33 pmDo not buy this car and if you already have...get rid of it! I have had this car in the shop at least 10 times since I bought it. Ive had problems with and had repaired or replaced the timing chain, actuators and lord only knows what else. 2 weeks ago it did again what it always does...check engine light comes on, makes a terrible rattling noise, service stabilitrak light comes on, goes to reduced power mode WHILE IM DRIVING and then just dies. This car has left me stranded on the side of the road on 3 different occasions. After having my vehicle towed to a GM dealership and complaining to GM about them covering the repairs, they tell me that they will not cover the cost. There has been a service bulletin issued regarding this same problem and a chevy dealership has made repairs before based on this service bulletin at no cost. Im going to sue. Does anyone know of an attorney in Houston that would handle my claim?

Excellent buy - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
By Anonymous - August 16 - 2:00 amI am so happy with my choice, I test drove similar crossover vehicles such as honda,kia,hyndai,nissan, ford escape, ford edge and they could not touch the quality,smooth quiet ride of the equinox. I took my time in shopping for 2 months. I Love Love the mileage Im getting, great execeration. I feel like Im riding in a luxury car instead of a suv. I get mucho compliments all the time on its exterior style and looks. I got silver metalic exterior with all black interior and 18" polished alum wheels.

UPSET and discouraged in MD - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
By madinmd - May 6 - 11:03 amTraded my 2007 Equinox model in for a 2011 LT1 two days ago (1/17). Drove the vehicle home w/ 63 miles. Drove to work the next a.m. and the check engine light came on 10 miles into my trip. Called onstar for diagnostics; found emmisions sensor problem and called the dealer, Adams Chevrolet, HdG, MD. Took the vehicle into the dealer and after waiting two hours i was told the emission sensor wire was stretched, they had to order a part. Drove a rental home. Called the dealer this evening, still not fixed; service told me GM shipped the wrong part. Spoke with Store Mngr who told me a different story. I AM VERY UPSET. MY opinion: "Stay away from Adams Chevrolet, Hdg, MD and 2011 Equinox."

In the end, the Equinox seemed the best value. The low price, warranty, hi-tech features on the LT1 model with the PDD option, and design won us over. On every count, the Edmunds review was accurate. The steering does have a video game feel, and some of the interior materials are not of the highest quality. Still, our initial impression and experiences have been very favorable. It drives well, and it is very user-friendly. Our last two purchases were the Mercedes and a BMW. The personnel at the Chevy dealership were as professional...

Worse car ever - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
By Rob - December 11 - 8:59 amIts all about problems on this car. I bought brand new and so far i had 6 major fixes. The last one out of my pocket: 1) oil leak at 7K miles 2) freon leak at 10K miles 3) oil deep stick dry every 2K miles when it had 30K miles. GM would consider that normal 4) burning oil continued at 50K miles and GM issued a recall. They replaced the timming belt, and leaky fuel pump. 5) burning oil continued so they replaced cylinders, rings and spark plugs. 6) at 70K miles car shut with engine loss power alarm and engine alarm. I had to pay 930 dollars to replace throttle box and 2 cam solenoids. I called GM and they will not issue additional warranties. What is next???????? THis is a car that will break and have to trash under my budget. Please DONT BUY GM. They are a piece of garbage. I was reading everyone that has this problem on chevy equinox. How is it possible that GM is allowed to sell this car? Does it meet the EPA standards????? I doubht it...

Gas mileage - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
By joe320 - October 4 - 12:29 pmOverall am pretty happy with my Equinox. Although I am very disappointed in the gas mileage.... the best I have seen is 26mpg under interstate conditions. I have owned 3 Chevy v6s that have gotten better than that on the hwy...the one I traded for this vehicle was a Venture Minivan. and it got better than 28mpg under the same conditions..... I was hestitant to buy the 4 cylinder but did so because of the advertised mileage..... Consequently disappointed ...would have bought a 6 cylinder had I known!

Worst Chevrolet Vehicle Ever - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
By MzP - September 24 - 4:27 pmMy family has owned Chevrolet Vehicles for over 60 years and the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is the WORST vehicle weve ever owned! It has been in for recalls and "special policy bulletins" for Cam Shaft Position Sensor, Transmission, Oil Consumption, and now the Catalytic Converter (oh and how convenient, they cover the converter, but not the sensors connected to the converter...which are another $400+) and several issues. It stalled in heavy traffic, is sluggish at times, and nothing but a constant headache. Stay away from this vehicle at all cost...Chevrolet has lost my business forever, I will never own another Chevrolet product again!
