Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

If your looking at the CR V you should check into the 2010 Equinox. Would never consider a GM before but this car changes that. Brought a LT no Navi, 6 cylinder. Im really happy with my purchase it handles well the interior is excellent and looks great

I was looking for something affordable to tote my ever-growing kids around in. I went from a sports car to the Equinox. Im not thrilled with it, but it is practical and serves its purpose. Theres plenty of room, but not much in the way of bells and whistles.

  • Fun Utility Vehicle - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox is fun to drive and offers a lot of functionality. I was able to haul baseball equipment for my sons colt league team all summer with room to spare. The back seats fold down - either both or a 60/40 split. Very convenient. The turning radius is tight, and the vehicle is very easy to park anywhere, whether it is a tight spot in a crowded parking lot, or parallel parking on the street. This utility truck gets great gas mileage, too. The visibility while driving is terrific, and although it is a small utility vehicle, it seems much bigger when you get inside. Plenty of leg room in both the front and back seats.

the equinox is a great suv. the seats are comfortable and there is plenty of leg room in the rear with the seat forward. 185 horsepower engine is strong and shifts smoothly, good acceleration and the engine is quiet.

  • Awful Transmission - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The car is absolutely stunning to look at. One of the best GM designs in years. The interior functions are great including the moving rear seat. Major drawback is the AWFUL transmission. Actually, the dealership tells me it is not the transmission, but the computer that controls it. When test driving, be sure and drive one uphill. Start at the bottom of the hill and you will notice that it will NOT change from third to fourth gear no matter how many RPMs you are turning. It will not change until you reach level ground. Also going downhill, it will downshift very hard to assist in slowing the vehicle and at times can be a safety / control issue.

I purchased my 2010 Equinox 2 weeks ago and so far it has been a great experience. I love the comfort level inside, the exterior design (well the front end is kind of big), gas mileage, and creature comforts offered in the cabin.

Liked the Lexus RX300, this was the next best thing! Roomy, good pick up, adjustable rear seat for long legs, and great storage. Especially love the sunroof!!

Great vehicle. My sons are both over 6 ft tall and they both have lots of leg room in the Equinox.

  • Great car when it works - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I love everything about this car when it works...the USB port has an error (always say AUX out with 2 different ipods and cords, it has been in the shop 4 times (I only have 7400 miles on it) because GM didnt get all of the metallic dust out of the engine from the casting. CAM Sensors cleaned, then replaced (x2), then CAM actuators replaced. As I said it looks darn good, gets great gas mileage and is decently peppy for a 4 cylinder. I still sort of recommend it, but I am embarrassed that this car stalled and bucked at red lights (almost pushed me through a few times) as much as it did. I mean embarrassed as in this is an American made car and we need to step our game up.
