Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

Very nice, smooth riding crossover. 20 mpg average with the 264 HP V-6 and tow package. We needed to tow a 17 ft. boat and this LTZ was equipped for towing but also had GPS NAV, leather, etc...We actually didnt have to spend too much for all the extras compared to Cadillac SRX and Lexus RX 350.

  • Chevy beats Honda - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Owning a CR-V for 2 years and finding it an excellent car, had some concerns about the Chevy but in terms of ride, a quiet cabin, fuel economy, and fit and finish it seems to be not only equal to, but better than. The Hondas 5 speed transmission seems to shift smarter, and steering is quicker. The 6 speed GM transmission, even on the 4 cylinder is however smooth, and quiet. All in all you get better MPG - quieter ride - greater leg room, Bluetooth, power rear hatch, better seat heating, in a car that anyone will like to drive. Chevy wins this one.

I have been extremely pleased with my purchase of the Equinox. It drives like a luxury vehicle. It has plenty of leg room in the second seat and a 64" person can ride very comfortable in the back seat. It is great on gas mileage too. Very pleased and highly recommend.

  • Nice for an Equinox - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

My wife wanted a sport utility so she could set up and see better. We owned a 2007 equinox, and I hated it. The 2010 is a 100% improvement. I wish it had more power, but the 4 cy does quite well. We have made 31.5 mpg one time, but at 65mph it normally gets 28- 30 mpg. Interstate driving at 78 mph gets 25 mpg. It is a nice vehicle for the price. It does not get around to good for a FWD in snow and ice.

  • Road noise regret - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

My Premier fwd with Michelin Premier ltx 18" tires creates a tremendous amount of road noise. I would suggest driving the vehicle for a day or two before making a purchase. GM and Michelin claim that there is not a problem with their product and the dealer is stuck in the middle and cannot offer any assistance.

This car has handled my NJ/NYC commute quite well! I am very impressed with this car, especially all the features you get for the money. Being that I am a recent college grad, this car fits what I need for my money without making me feel completely poor. I am also into outdoor activities like rock climbing and this is a perfect fit for some crash pads and a few friends.

Purchased the end of January 2010. Put a little over 1000 miles on it so far. It has plenty of power for the driving I do (mostly surface streets/some freeway). Display says Im averaging 23 mpg. I havent done a road trip with it yet. Hoping gas mileage will improve, but even if it doesnt, I am completely satisfied with this car! Its very roomy and comfortable(the initial attraction for us)and not too high off the ground for my elderly mother-in-law to get in. Settled for black color because this vehicle is hard to find and I didnt want to wait to order one! Looks good, rides good, and I drive every chance I can get. I love this vehicle!

  • Way better than you think - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I was skeptical too. GM? Equinox? But shopping for a mini SUV I thought it worth a look. Long story short, I bought. The LTZ I bought is loaded with everything you can imagine - certainly beats features of CRV EXLnavi and RAV4. This thing is really refined. Dont look for power, just quite. BTW this is a BIG vehicle to get 22mpg around town over the last few days. Two tone leather interior is huge - back seat is like a limo. cargo area a bit narrower than competition but plenty big. Ride is hushed and refined - very solid. details will wow you at reasonable pricing. get invoice deal very easily, also currently $1,000 rebates if you own (not trade) a non-gm car.

I just got my Equinox this Tuesday. I used it for a 170 mile round trip to watch my Hokies play spring football. The car did great. Gas mileage was about 29 mpg for the total trip (including gameday traffic). The ride and comfort was incredible. I traveled on an interstate and the 4 cyl did fine. I hope the reliability is as good as my first impression of this vehicle. I would strongly recommend folks looking at this choice in the small SUV class. I thoroughly enjoy the Pioneer sound system and the options it affords the listener.

Love Chevs. Have driven one since 1986. This is my 3rd. Very dependable. This model has all the features I was looking for in an SUV. Small, but not too small, sporty design and low price. With Chevy quality, I think I have a winner.
