Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

I love the style of the vehicle. Best style in its class. Driving the Equinox is realy fun. I bought it for myself, but my wife drives it more than me. She loves it too. I might buy one for her too because I dont want to share my car.

I have always been a Honda/Hyundai person for 20 yrs. I was looking for a Santa Fe but didnt like the look of the inside. I always enjoyed my friends Blazer so I thought I look at one. I was looking at the Blazer and saw the Equinox on the lot and loved the look of it. The Equinox has the that European look I like and I loved the ride. I took it home that day. I had to explain to my husband why I went to town to by canning jars and came home with a car we have never heard of. It was worth it though. I love driving it.

Going from a Durango to this car was a change especially since I loved my Durango. After having it for a few months I have to admit I love the Equinox now. Great little car to zip around in. Interior is too light and seats show any dirt. Also due to hail storm got significant damage on my hood. Otherwise constructed well

Had a Mazda 6 and was looking for a larger safer car for our 1 year old. The plan was to look at the usual suspects RAV4, CRV, Forrester, Escape, Santa Fe. Then I stumbled on some information about the new Equinox (did not know there was an old one) on Edmunds and started to look for any info I could find. I didnt know it but I was already sold. We never looked at the other cars. The LS has great options, but I felt the LT1 upholstery made a significant change in appearance. The exterior has the attitude that I missed since selling my Grand Prix GTP. The Mazda was reliable and nice, but didnt have that American feel that I missed. Need "LTZ" trim for Fog lights!? Empty fog cover = lame

I saw this car in January at the auto show and decided to wait until it came out this summer. The only serious competition was the Toyota Venza, but the Equinox is better-looking and a better value. I waited 7 weeks for the one I ordered to arrive. Im pleased with it. I like the comfortable seats, quiet ride and of course the mpg. Its not a great handling car, but the steering and acceleration are what you would expect in a 4-cyl. crossover. The interior lights are very cool, but theres too much plastic for my taste. I dont understand why I couldnt get the upgraded Pioneer speakers with the 1LT model. The exterior color choices are extremely unimaginative; I went with Navy blue.

This vehicle looks good but has to many kinks that need worked out. From new shocks and brakes to electronic failure, the Chevy Equinox was not ready for market.

I enjoy driving my new Equinox. I feel safe and its comfortable to drive long distance. It does not drive like an SUV more like a car. It does not compare to other SUVs I have owned in the past.

What started out to be a nice, new vehicle with AWD has turned into a big pain. My wife has had to take her Equinox to the dealer on many occasions for stupid problems. Around 18,000 miles the struts had to be replaced. The air conditioner wouldnt work properly and had to be fixed on several occasions. More recently, it died with some battery/electrical issues, and to top it off, now at 30,000, the "backend" needs to be replaced after some whining noise from the drive train. I cant wait to unload this junk. My wife is now looking at the Subaru Forester

I have only had my Equinox for a week now but i am absolutely in love with this car! We needed something bigger than our VW jetta since we are expecting our first child on the way. I have been looking at pretty much every cuv and always came back to the Equinox. I am 63 and it was hard to find a car that gave us MPG, room, options, comfort, and for an affordable price. Most cars you have to sacrifice one of those needs, this car none. This is by far the best for the money! I checked our mileage and we are getting 24.67 and that is quite a bit of city driving, thats only 3 mpg less than the jetta we were driving. Go out and drive one, you will love it!
