Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

My husband gave me this car as a birthday gift. No problems. Dont particularly like the back window wash system, but love the way the car handles, and I get about 18 mpg in the city. I have no problem with odors in the car, no water leakage, just occassionally a gas smell in the oil, but I found out that is caused by the synthetic oil used by my mechanic. My next will be Caddy SRX. All my other cars were Fleetwoods. Wanted a small SUV. Ironically, they are both built in the same plant in Canada. But I chose the leather, no OnStar, and no Sirius radio. I like to listen to my cds and books on disc. Maintenance is a key issue. No problems with the original tires, but I took the 17 in rims.

The LS model is one that does not have a lot of zip but that is not what I bought it for. It has sufficient power, good MPGs, and very well equipped for the money. Seats are comfortable, rides very quiet and fit and finish appear to be topnotch. I have been getting 25mpg in combined city/highway driving. Only had it for a few weeks, but it is growing on me more and more. Visibility in the back could be better. So far no buyers remorse.

Drives and rides nice. Like the back seat room and ease of entering and exiting the rear seat. The electric assist power steering is nice. Overall a nice vehicle to have.

This is a superior vehicle. It has the styling of a very expensive vehicle. The back seat is the roomiest Ive ever been in and it is quiet, comfortable and drives like a dream! If you have not driven one, you are really missing out!

I have found that this SUV is very comfortable (I am 64"). Plenty of head and leg room, even I can fit in the backseat without sitting sideways. Very smooth ride, the car drives itself. Radio is confusing but the sound is great. Rear view is a negative. Its like a looking through a tunnel. For safety I put in a "Lane Changer" Mirror (cost 8 bucks). I have to get use to a smaller gas tank. (Use to 22 gal vs the 16 gal). Engine responds very smoothly but you have to watch your speed when you going 60 it feels like 30. Gas pedal is very touchy. The low end model does not come with a cargo net (cost $104) bought a generic one for $6 and does just as well. Limited cargo space.

Find the 185 hp engine much too weak. Poor start from stop, noisy. Much todo about front seat folding flat but the rear seats do not thus an uneven floor. Nice ride, does well once under way. Very good on the freeway. Presently only 2700 mile on car but gas mileage is awful-15/22, a long way from touted 19/25. Clever rear storage arrangement but space over wheel wells is way underutilized.

Just got my Equinox and I love it! It has the roomiest back seat ... lots of leg room. The cargo area is very handy ... perfect level for loading things and no reaching or bending. Drives really well ... easy to park in tight spaces ... easy backing. Has a plain dash ... not complicated ... very sleek and clean looking. Very satisfied with this car ... had an Aztek prior and I like this much better.
