Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

I had a 2004 Chevy Impala LS and I loved it. The only thing is I had three back surgeries and am now disabled and needed something easier to get in and out of. The Equinox was the vehicle for me. Excellent ride and comfort. Love the heated seat option, like a heating pad for my back. The Equinox is a excellent SUV.

It feels really good, great ride. Just sold my Chevy Blazer for a smaller SUV and it feels good. Better millage and I like the safety features as well. Perfect for my gardening and groceries at the same time.

  • auto engine stop/start - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

I traded for the equinox because it has a power lift gate. It also has dark glass in the back doors and lift gate that you cant see thru at night. It has a backup camera but its too bright. I cant see anything on the screen at night, but it,s OK in the day time. The reason for the low marks is the new feature called AUTO ENGINE STOP/START. I was not told about this feature. If i knew about this, I would not have traded for this equinox. This is the dumbest thing that I ever seen on a car. You pull up to a 4 way stop and the motor dies. When you release the break the motor restarts about a half second later. This is wrong to have something like this feature added to the car and not tell anyone about it. I know that it will cost big money for starters and batteries after the warranty runs out.

I would like to say that I went from a 2001 z28 camaro to this and am loving it. I wanted more room and something big enough fot the family but not to big. This gives me that and still looks sporty! The kids love it as well so I guess I killed 2 birds with one stone! Thank You Chevrolet, you won me over. I grew up in a Ford family but not anymore!

So far I am very happy with all aspects of the vehicle. Fun to drive.

  • Great but Disappointing MPG - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Great looks, quality interior, comfortable and quiet ride, adequate power. Sound system and use of switchgear totally OK. Great back seat room. Build quality seems solid except chrome door trim along windows. LTZ has great features but lacks homelink. Memory on drivers seat needs more automation (button has to be held down while it moves, easy to hit the wrong button). Gas mileage not anywhere near advertised and 600 mile range is a total joke. Best case with soft, steady pedal is 29 highway at 55 mph, have really tried hard to get more by coasting, no hard passing, easy acceleration. Gas tank can take 2 more gallons after (legal) auto cutoff (we cant fill our own cars in Oregon)

  • Awesome SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This is the best midsize suv. I looks like a Lexus and drives awesome. I chose it over a GMC Envoy SLT.

I traded in a 2004 Toyota Highlander and I just love my Equinox...I love the cute style of it and thus far have had no problems what so ever....The stereo buttons are a bit annoying but I just dont fool around with them....
