Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Great ride - 2016 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Have had this 2016 Equinox for three weeks now and totally love it. The ride is fantastic. Both my wife and I have commented how our legs dont feel like rubber after getting out from a trip. Car handles wonderfully with great steering and comfortable ride. So far I have been averaging slightly over 27 MPG on the highway here in New England and better than 23 MPG around town. The 4 cyl. 2.4 engine is great and has plenty of power to handle the hills and can easily pass on the highway without punching the pedal. Could not be happier with this choice. Only con is that my wife is short and cannot reach the back hatch to close it. Didnt want to get the LTZ package. Oh well...minor issue and made her a grabber to reach the hatch hand hold.

  • 2008 Sport Equinox! - 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

I test drove the 2007 Equinox and was not very impressed with the preformance - but then I was shown the 2008 Sport version, OMG the new version of this SUV is amazing, the Power and look of the car is all new. Very impressed with the 0-100kph 6.4 seconds.

  • Surprising! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This is like no other Chevy SUV that Ive seen. I guess theyve realized that people do care about their cars being stylish. Ive had groups of 5 on several occastions for short journeys and everyone compliments the comfort, room and ride. The engine is quite responsive considering its horsepower rating. The versatility of the interior features is impressive. Focusing more on the center console for window buttons and gear information will take some getting used too.

For price , quality and for its class, I feel the Chevy Equinox is the best vehicle on the market money can buy. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend the Equinox to anyone looking to buy a mid-sized SUV. The only issue with the vehicle is that with the price of gas today, mpg could be better but it is plenty of car for a car pool or average sized family.

Before you get this car just do not. I wish someone would have told me or gave me a heads up or I would have done more investigative work on the issues with this car. Drove it initially off the lot with no issues except slow acceleration but it only has 4-cylinders so I get it. few months in the idle started acting up, then the reverse went out on the vehicle. Got the transmission changed under the CarMax warranty then the jerking started. The dealership insisted that I come in to get the recall done to my "high powered fuel pump" then the car just fell apart. The vehicle kills in main stream traffic. Seems as though the gas is not getting to where it needs to be. Then the heater went out and my auto start wont work now. The dealership that did the recall stated that the issue was not there fault and I would have to pay for diagnostic or parts and labor since there is no longer a warranty. Worse buy and I will never get another Chevy again.

  • Less comfortable than my 2016 Equinox - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Comparing my 2018 1.5L FWD and 2016 2.4L FWD Equinoxes: 2018 is worse for front seat comfort, interior road noise, and ride motions over rough pavement. The 2018 is better for city acceleration. The 2018 may be better for city fuel economy, but I need more miles to evaluate.

  • Love this truck - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

So far I am very happy with this SUV. Its very roomy. It handles well, although turning radius is not that great. The gas mileage is good considering the size. My only cons are the window controls, and the cheap cupholders.

  • somewhat stressed - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

At test drive the Chevy Equinox drove, handled great. After purchasing the 2010 Chevy Equinox, and driving it for a month, I started hearing this motor noise (which sounded like a lifter inside motor). Took into dealership we purchased our Equinox from, explained to the service attendant. Service writer wrote up a ticket for the problem. After checking out our Equinox, service attendant called and said our Equinox was ready. When asking the service attendant about the noise he told us that it was just what that engine does. We have taken our Equinox in 2 other times and noting can be done about it. Now the noise seems to be getting worse. Engine is really noisy.
