Overview & Reviews
Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.
Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

Perfect EXCEPT........ - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By LYN E - November 28 - 10:00 amI love my new Equinox...I was one of the first ones on the streets and I liked the new look. Everything is perfect EXCEPT...the rear headrests are so tall it makes for much difficulty when backing up...this also causes a bad blind spot when you look in the rear view mirror. It handles great, super fuel economy, great stero sound...excellent comforts with the leather interior (the cloth seats are very hard). I love Chevey and this is a great little truck!!

Best in its class?.....YES - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
By Kristy - November 19 - 11:13 amI certainly seem to think so, I LOVE this car not only does it ride like a breeze, its extremely comfortable. The only regret with this vehicle I wish I purchased the next model up with the power-lift gate and a few more bells and whistles, maybe my next one. Other cars I looked at was Toyota rav, Honda CRV, Nissan Murano..Equinox won my heart. excellent gas mileage, beautiful interior, comfortable smooth ride.

Very Pleased! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Dave - November 15 - 9:50 pmWe have three children 6, 16, and 17 yrs old, two of which have long legs! We searched over for something to accomodate our family with size, price, and a great look without feeling like we were driving around in a bus! Equinox was the answer, and we are considering buying a second. Very pleased with our choice.

Exceeds Expectations - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
By czcraig - November 12 - 1:36 amI have about 1500 miles on my Summit White LTZ AWD V6 and could not be happier. Fit and finish inside and out are first rate. Seats are very comfortable, ride is smooth and quiet. Transmission shifts smoothly, AWD works great and engine has plenty of power if you put your foot into it. My only performance complaint is I would prefer a faster throttle response. I am getting about 21 MPG in my part city part highway commute. Performance and mileage have both improved quite a bit since new. This is the first time since 1991 that I have bought an American car. I tested several other vehicles in this class and kept going back to the Equinox.

We Love Our Equinox - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Mike Dickson - November 3 - 8:20 pmWe have thoroughly enjoyed our Equinox. Its fun to drive and gets plenty of looks from people (we did add some extras to ours). The stereo system is kickn and has plenty of power to get us where we need to go, when we need to get there. I would recommend the Equinox to anyone looking for a smaller SUV that still gives you the feeling of driving a truck. The only thing I would say that GM needs to work on is the layout of their controls including the buttons on the steering column as well as the power window buttons in the center console (They are not lit at night and awkward to use). Thanks and have fun driving!

Equinox a Bust - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Jeff - October 29 - 10:16 pmGas mileage is poor, only average 12mpg. The seats stain with water. It has a horrible turning radius, and more rattles than a can with marbles. Cheap interior finish. All painted interior surfaces are scratched or peeling off. Has a terrible radio, have a hum in the rear.

Equinox...Luxury for $30K! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
By Gustave1 - October 28 - 7:16 amI bought my Equinox in August and it was the best thing I have done in a long time. I began looking at just the LT Base packages, but when I saw the Summit White with the LT 1SE package, I couldnt resist. It had everything that my BMW had, but for $10K less. The tan leather with the Summit White clearcoat is a beautiful combo. The power and fuel economy is outstanding. I just graduated High School and I drive to college and I get close to 30 MPG with 185 HP...WOW!!!

I love my Eqinox - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
By Gail Stickner - October 18 - 1:03 amI bought my Equinox to have a higher, more comfortable interior than a car. The interior seems much larger than other vehicles I checked out. I has a very nice ride. I especially like the adjustable back seat to give more leg room to passengers. Mine also has a outdoor temperature feature that I like especially on winter roads to tell me when icy conditions may exist. My only concern is -- with 2000 miles on it, is getting 19.5 mpg around town.I hope this will improve. But it is a great vehicle and I could not be happier with it. I think GM should advertise the Equinox more.
