Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Perfect Fit - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I searched for some time for a vehicle. I wanted something that had some SUV capabilities, but did not need a full size SUV. The Equinox was a perfiect fit for me because it has plenty of room, provides a cofortable ride, and has the SUV aspects I wanted without the outrageous gas expense. So far, I have no complaints, I love it!

Too early to tell reliability, this is my work horse 30K a year. went back to American 1st time in many years. need to support our icons. I have been watching the mile per gallon indicator setting trying to maximize. So far GMs claims are far fetched I avg 21- 22 total street and hwy combined. hope that improves like a good wine with age as it breaks in. Sometimes at light car flutters and stalls out. I told dealer and they said to bring in that iy may be a bad sensor.

Excellent...you get a lot for your money. Two of its best features are the sliding rear seat and the folding passenger seat. Great for travel. For SUVs in the same class, you get a lot more for your money than with the CRV or Jeep Liberty. The electric steering takes a little getting used to but is another great new feature for 05. It is very spacious. The cargo net in the back is great for groceries and shopping. Also, there is a movable tray in the rear so you can cover things in the trunk, make a shelf for storage or flip it over and it turns into a great tray for tailgating. Its cloth on one side and plastic on the other. Overall...buy it...you will love it. Its.....sweet.

I have only had mine for a week but I just had to share how happy I am with my new Equinox. It is everything that I wanted a nd more. If I could I would get one for everyone in my family. The interior upgrades make it a very sweet ride. I have no complaints at all.

  • Hate the Car - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I have had my equinox for 1 1/2 yrs. Ive had the window molds replaced 3 times, an electrical system replaced once. The weathering on my drivers door replaced once and now my rear drive unit is being replace. Thats along with the 4 times I had to have it pulled in because I couldnt jump the battery, then the battery was replaced. I thought the car was awesome. I live in ND and in the country so snow gets impacted in places and make sthe car run funny. It doesnt do well in the cold and lots of snow. I have decided that it wasnt worth my college graduation present as many problems as Ive had with it, it leaves me with an unreliable vehicle.

Overall I have enjoyed driving the vehicle, however I am somewhat concerned with the way the automatic transmission shifts during acceleration, the tach revs very high before shifting. The rear windows leave some blind spots, however the front seating is comfortable and visability is good in front.

Great all around SUV. Good looking exterior, clean interior design, plenty of seating room, V6, drives smooth, and good saftety ratings. For the money its far superior to the Honda CRV.

Vehicle has been fun to drive and received many positive comments from co-workers. Styling is a step forward for Chevrolet. I own a near fully loaded LT model. Car performed excellent on a trip to the Pocono Mountains. Has the look and feel of more expensive SUVs.
