For 2011, the Chevrolet Equinox's optional V6 now has E85 capability. Enhancements include heated cloth seats on 2LT models and a compass on LS models. A USB port, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and Bluetooth connectivity are now standard on 1LT models, and OnStar service has been upgraded to standard Directions and Connections (providing access to OnStar's navigation and information services) for a six-month trial period.

  • Fuel-efficient four-cylinder.
  • Quiet cabin with lots of storage bins
  • Adjustable backseat
  • Premium look inside and out
Cons:
  • Not quite as much cargo space as chief rivals
  • Numb and uncommunicative steering.
  • Some controls difficult to reach

  • Almost Perfect! - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Considering my last car was a VW Jetta, the Equinox feels like I am driving an aircraft carrier! I love this car (well, actually, its a truck/crossover). The interior space is expansive and the seats are super comfortable for both driver, passenger, and folks in the back seat. The ride is soft does a decent job absorbing bumps in the road. The back seat adjusts so you can have extra cargo space or extra leg room in the back.

What can I say? Its a great car but I cant understand how it can be rated 22- 32 MPG?? Ive yet to average 22 MPG on a 200mi road trip not to mention in town. I feel duped!!!

  • Awesome SUV!! - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

I purchased my Equinox about two months ago and I love every minute inside of it! The seats are so plush and it rides extremely smooth. I was also interested in the Nissan Rogue initially but the amenities you get in the Equinox for basically the same price of the Rogue, is no comparison. Fuel economy is awesome. The exterior design is so smooth....loving it!

  • This SUV is full of trouble, potentially deadly - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

We got brand new chevy euinox in 2011. I had to take it to dealer twice with engine trouble. My wife drives it -very mildly. It has very low millage. She had it stall in the middle of the road two times. It would just loose power suddenly. She would start it and it would run a little before stalling again. Finally it would not even start. The enigne light would come on. This happened twice. Thankfully she was not in highway when this happened. She also had kids with her. Imagine if this happened in high way at high speed. By Gods grace, she and the kids have been spared from horrific accident due to this failure. The car dealership was another unfriendly experience. I took it to the same dealer who I bought the car from. They are so nonchalant about the whole event, as if it is the most expected thing on earth to happen. They were very late diagnosing the problem, leaving us without a car when my wife needed the car for going to work (dont know if that is a bad thing or not, given the nature of its serious trouble). All in all, it has been a very bad experience. I will not look forward to buying another chevy any time soon.

  • Worst Purchase Ever - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Ive only ever driven Hondas and made the leap of trying a 2011 Chevy Equinox. I bought a used Chevy with 67k miles on it, and 5k miles later, the A/C goes bad. The air condenser is leaking and Chevy charges over $800 for a repair. Of all my years driving a Honda, Ive never once had an A/C break and Ive driven them well over 175k miles. So much for buying an American car. It was a waste of money to buy something so un-reliable. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.

  • A Truly Great Car! - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Having owned 2 Toyota Highlanders and a RAV 4 I was in the process on dealing for a 2009 Highlander lease back. I was ready to close the deal but my wife kept asking me to look at the Equinox. A friend of hers had one and my wife was really impressed. Well, I gave in and put the Highlander on hold and went to look at the Equinox. I honestly found it hard to believe that the Equinox was so great. I cancelled the Highlander and bought the Equinox. Every day I find that I am more satisfied with it. I honestly cannot complain about a thing. I am sure there are going to be some out there that are going question my decision but all I can say is that I am really glad I bought the Equinox.

Before you get this car just do not. I wish someone would have told me or gave me a heads up or I would have done more investigative work on the issues with this car. Drove it initially off the lot with no issues except slow acceleration but it only has 4-cylinders so I get it. few months in the idle started acting up, then the reverse went out on the vehicle. Got the transmission changed under the CarMax warranty then the jerking started. The dealership insisted that I come in to get the recall done to my "high powered fuel pump" then the car just fell apart. The vehicle kills in main stream traffic. Seems as though the gas is not getting to where it needs to be. Then the heater went out and my auto start wont work now. The dealership that did the recall stated that the issue was not there fault and I would have to pay for diagnostic or parts and labor since there is no longer a warranty. Worse buy and I will never get another Chevy again.

  • Great but Disappointing MPG - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Great looks, quality interior, comfortable and quiet ride, adequate power. Sound system and use of switchgear totally OK. Great back seat room. Build quality seems solid except chrome door trim along windows. LTZ has great features but lacks homelink. Memory on drivers seat needs more automation (button has to be held down while it moves, easy to hit the wrong button). Gas mileage not anywhere near advertised and 600 mile range is a total joke. Best case with soft, steady pedal is 29 highway at 55 mph, have really tried hard to get more by coasting, no hard passing, easy acceleration. Gas tank can take 2 more gallons after (legal) auto cutoff (we cant fill our own cars in Oregon)

  • Best purchase I ever made - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

I did a lot of research before finally pulling the trigger and I couldnt be happier with my Equinox. Coming from an Accord that was baby for the past 5 years, it was a bit of a change but in a good way. While it takes some time to get used to the size difference, the Nox runs like a dream. The interior is roomy and stylish. It doesnt have the cheap feel like the Rogue that I test drove and has more curves than the CR-V. The pickup on the V4 takes some getting used to coming from a manual trans, but after 500 miles, I got it down. Rearview parking assist is a great feature as is the all wheel drive. Couple that with getting a 2LT for 2000 less than the TMV and Im in heaven.
