Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • I Am In Love With My Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought an Equinox LT the other night and by far, it is the best vehicle I have ever bought. The ride is smooth and comfortable, everything you need is at your fingertips. I highly recommend an Equinox

  • Selling like hot cakes! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Went to buy an Avalanche last week and ended up buying two new Chevrolets. While at the dealer my wife spotted the Equinox. Three days later we went back and bought a black FWD LT. Had test driven the Nissan Murano, Lexus and BMW MDX, none had comparable leg room to the Equinox. LT units are preselling in our market and are very difficult to find. EXTREMELY good value for the money, nothing even comes close.

  • A superb car for LIFE - 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

I am now 79 years of age and have finally purchased a car that exceeds ALL of my expectations. Reliability, comfort, gas economy and looks (inside and out).

  • Mechanical nightmare - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought this car new and have had many mechanical problems. Excessive oil consumption lead to major repairs. Just replaced the cam actuators due to oil sludge even though I never skip an oil change. GM denied my request for reimbursement. I am not keeping the car and will never own a Chevrolet.

  • Very happy driver! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Love that car-test drove it right off the dealers lot about a month and a half ago. Space, space and space everywhere.

  • Good Buy - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I bought my nox a week ago and am loving it. It rides good and looks good. The V-6 seems peppier than the same engine when it was in my camaro (of course it did have 200k miles on it...) and a SUV that gets mid 20s mpg is a plus.

  • This SUV is full of trouble, potentially deadly - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We got brand new chevy euinox in 2011. I had to take it to dealer twice with engine trouble. My wife drives it -very mildly. It has very low millage. She had it stall in the middle of the road two times. It would just loose power suddenly. She would start it and it would run a little before stalling again. Finally it would not even start. The enigne light would come on. This happened twice. Thankfully she was not in highway when this happened. She also had kids with her. Imagine if this happened in high way at high speed. By Gods grace, she and the kids have been spared from horrific accident due to this failure. The car dealership was another unfriendly experience. I took it to the same dealer who I bought the car from. They are so nonchalant about the whole event, as if it is the most expected thing on earth to happen. They were very late diagnosing the problem, leaving us without a car when my wife needed the car for going to work (dont know if that is a bad thing or not, given the nature of its serious trouble). All in all, it has been a very bad experience. I will not look forward to buying another chevy any time soon.

  • NEW OWNER LOVES HER SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

BEING SHORT, I CAN NOW SEE OVER OTHERS, PLENTY OF STORAGE ROOM AND PASSENGER SPACE, NOT SO TALL, I CAN STILL PARK IN THE GARAGE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A CHEVROLET CUSTOMER, CORVETTES MOSTLY, BUT GETTING OLDER! (STILL HAVE THE CORVETTES)...I WALKED IN ..DIDNT TEST DRIVE..BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IN 5 MINUTES...SHOCKED THE SALES PERSON. I KNOW THE QUALITY ALREADY.

  • Great SUV - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I spend 6 hrs a day driving my Nox and I love it. Only one small issue fixed by my dealer immediately (clunking Lift gate support)-I am very happy with this car- I traded a few year old Grand Cherokee and for what I save in gas almost pays for my Nox

  • Hunk of Junk - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have had this vehicle for 2.5 yrs now, and Ive had to have brand new rotors and break pads; along with brand new tires, visor, and stereo. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. There is also a problem where the starter cranks after the key is released, and Chevrolet, in their service bulletin (#03-06-03-001D) states this is "normal." There are a ton of blind spots with this vehicle also. You couldnt pay me enough money to ever get a Chevrolet again.
