Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Equinox is a fun little SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have found the Equinox to be a great transition vehicle from car to truck. It rides smoothly and there is a lot of room.

  • Love My SUV - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Im a first time owner of an SUV and really enjoy the new Equinox. I find it fun to drive and comfortable. My previous car was a Cadillac and my husband still owns one. I enjoy the size and roominess of it and the fact that I dont need a step stool or other aids to get in and out of it is a plus. I can easily transport my grandchildren it it. I enjoy the acceleration that I need in entering a freeway and great braking during city driving. I recommend this vehicle for all first time SUV owners like myself.

  • 1st Chevy - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

I change vehichles every 2-3 years. This is my first Chevy(except for a 79 4x4 Cheyenne long gone). Overall I enjoy it except for an annoying "clunking" noise in the front end. Especially annoying is the high speed stability, or lack of it. At freeway speeds it tends to be quick to get away from you. I must always stay glued to the steering wheel or I tend to find myself in the next lane. I had the dealership check it out but they heard no noises nor found anything wrong. I like the vehichle in all other ways but am very disapointed at its handling on the freeways. The one other thing that I miss is a hook to hang my dry-cleaning. I cant find one.

Its so aerodynamic, similar to the Lexus RX330 but way more affordable for the average person. The seats fit perfectly to the curve of your back. The ride is so unbelievably smooth and quiet. The inside has more room than any other mini-sized SUV.

I love the way the Equinox handles on the road. I get great gas mileage with my Equinox with 20 - 26 mpg. I like that everyone has sufficient room to be comforatable for traveling. The storage area behind the seats is great too with the table top for layers -- great idea!

In a field with plenty of Mid-size SUV options the Equinox is a solid option.

  • All the ladies in my life have one - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

I bought the the first Equinox in 2005 for my youngest daughter attending college back east. My wife and 2 daughters liked its handling and interior room. I bought my wife hers in June 2006; and followed by another one in the second half of the month for our oldest attending college on the west coast. Now all the ladies in my life have a new Equinoxs.

  • Great buy - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

We bought an all white AT fully loaded. As soon as we saw it and drove it we knew it was perfect for us. The legroom in the back is great. Good pick-up, comfort, its quiet. Stereo with XM (which I was skeptical about) is better than we could have imagined. We get tons of compliments from friends and strangers at gas stations. Its not unusual to pull into the grocery store and have other folks come check it out.

  • Nox Not Too Shabby - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Ive owned my Nox for a little over a month now. My only complaint so far is the gas. I see most everyone complains about that and its true, the gas could definitly be better. Im constantly filling up. The little bit of noise I hear when Im driving is a pain, but nothing to really complain about, it isnt a Caddy or anything. Rides nice, havent gotten to experience it in the snow yet, looking forward to that. Sound system is pretty nice love having a sunroof. Spacious vehicle and I do like it so far.

  • Nice SUV! - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

This SUV is fun to drive. Came out of a Ford Escape XLT 3.0 liter lease and was looking at another one when we test drove the Equinox to the Ford Dealer. My wife drives this 99% of the time. She fell in love with this SUV. Did a ton of research on the Equinox and got great feedback from others who have them. Saved some money by going with front wheel drive only as I was told it is good in the snow and has been in one snow storm and one ice storm. I drove it for about 2.5 hours before purchase and liked the ride and less interior road noise then the Escape. One bad note wife said brakes felt weird. Took it to dealer and rotors needed to be replaced along with new transmitter fobs.
