Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • Good SUV - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Traded in a 2004 Nissan Xterra for the 2007 Equinox. The Equinox has much more interior room both in the front and rear seat and being over 6 foot tall I was surprised by the rear seat leg room. The ride is smooth and comfortable and compares favorably to my Nissan Altima. The gas mileage has been as advertised. It has so much more get up and go compared to the Xterra.

When gasoline hit $4 a gallon, I knew it was time to get rid of the crew cab 4X4 and downsize to something else. I got an 09 Vibe GT, too small, for wife, kid and myself. Saw a new 10 Equinox, saw the gas mileage, could not believe it, test drove the new LTZ model, I am 66" and WOW, this thing feels like it is the next size bigger in the line of Crossovers. Great comfort, took it on our first trip, Ohio-Iowa, 750 miles one way, packed to the hilt, drove 75-80mph the whole way with the air on, and....... we got 28.5 mpg. I figure if I slowed down a little, it would probably get the 32 MPG, also, the motor is not yet broke in. Nice vehicle, sharp!! I got the Mocha steel, pretty!

  • Disappointed in gas mileage and interior - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

Gas mileage is not what is advertised. Interior is cheap and disappointing. Experior design great. Turning radius needs to be improved. LT version should have tined windows in the front. If Chevy would have addresed these issues and not have been CHEAP this would be a dream vehicle.

  • Disappointment - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Just bought this 2010 Equinox. 2010 no longer comes with a fold flat front passenger seat, not even an option. This reduces the utility factor. I drive with a light foot in ECO mode yet I only have averaged 23.7 mpg. 80% of my driving is 4 lane with the cruise on 60 mph. The rear blind spots are terrible, the rearview camera is a necessity not just an option.

  • Disappointed on Gas Mileage - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Just bought the car in August and it looks great and the ride feels good. As far as dependability, it is questionable. The seat belt sensor light stays on when belted in. I took it to the dealership and they told me that the part would ship on Nov 2. The part was ordered on August 21. I would hate to see if it was a part that was essential for the car to run. The most disappointing aspect of this vehicle is Gas Mileage. I am getting 23.9 on the average. I purchased it solely for gas mileage. I feel like others on this review. I feel cheated. It looks like GM has not changed. They LIED about gas mileage. I believe it is close to false advertising. Stick to imports!!!!!

Great ride, smooth, awesome styling. Very safe with excellent crash ratings (four bags as well as side curtain airbags). Incredible legroom and plenty of space! worth every penny!!

  • shiny look but not too impressive. - 2017 Chevrolet Equinox

Just rented this brand new UV for a week. First off the cars exterior design looks nice, Interior is also very comfy especially the driver side and driver console, everything is well placed, The tech on the car dash was awesome the infotainment system. What is bad about this car is the power, it is seriously lacking power, acceleration is horrible, i mean the worst of any car i have driven. The backseat space is also pretty limited if you have people in the back. The gas mileage also was not great, it eats up a lot of gas. Overall a nice looking and comfortable car but the serious lack of power made me want to return this rental car in early for something else.

  • Great SUV - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

This SUV shouldnt be in a class with the Ford Escape and smaller SUVs. Its remarkably spacious, it looks great, and theres so many options you can get. I got the base model, added great leather, dark tint, remote start, bluetooth, and rims. I liked it this way so I would only pay for what I wanted. First ever SUV and Im loving it.

  • Good SUV with plenty of room - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Bought this vehicle after test driving the Saturn Vue. It has more interior space and looks better. This SUV rides excellent, as we just got back from a trip from SC to Florida, where we got 25 mpg on the highway and are getting about 21.5 combined. This car handles very well and my wife loves it.

  • Great Vehicle! - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

This car is fantastic - beautiful inside and out! I purchased the 4 cyl. and it has plenty of power (I used to drive a 6 cyl. 4.3L Blazer and dont miss any loss of power). The 2010 Equinox is very quiet, shifting is smooth, and cruises at 70 mph at only 2000 RPMs due to 6 speed automatic. Im getting 28 MPG combined local and hwy. driving. I love the Bluetooth and automatic climate control the 2LT offers. You also get the fog lights on the 2LT, which look much better than the fog light covers on the LS or 1LT. I think Chevrolet is missing the boat comparing the 2010 Equinox to the Honda CRV or Toyota RAV4 - they should be comparing it to the Lexus RX330/350!
