Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

I just leased a 2007 Equinox LT FWD the end of May. I love it! So easy to handle, very comfortable, and great on gas mileage for a V6.

Overall I guess you can say that it is one of the best looking and better handling SUVs on the market. It has such a unique design. It reminds you a lot of a lexus but for half of the price. It is so stylish, and it handles just as good as a car or better.

  • Amazing Interior Space and a Fun SUV! - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have had my Equinox since Sept 04 and it has exceeded my expectations for an SUV! It isnt too big to drive and doesnt feel like you are driving a bus. It drives like a car and get gas mileage like a car also. I love it.

  • Dont buy a 2005 - you will regret it - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

The car looks great, however, I have had nothing but problems, I owned the car a month and the rear differential had to be completely replaced. The AWD still doesnt work correctly and is always engaged, so if its raining its like driving on ice, literally! The gas mileage was supposed be 25+ mpg, its more like 16 or 17 mpg. I will not even put my daughters in the car with me anymore because I feel so unsafe when driving it, I should just sell it but I worry about a person safety that would buy it. I have contacted GMC with no response on their end.

What a piece of garbage this dud has been! Who designed the interior? The cup holder cannot be used with the E-brake in the way, the sun visor blocks the entire window when down. And the 41.7 foot turning radius? Good luck making a U-turn! Listed at 19-25mpg. We drive 90% freeway and get barely 20mpg even after installing K&N filter.

  • Expensive Looking but Reasonably Priced - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

We looked at many SUVs and always came back to the Equinox. We purchased an AWD with 3LT pkg. With the chrome clad wheels and leather, everyone thinks we paid thousands more. It is my wifes car and just the right size to get around in. She feels very safe and secure in it. The AWD worked well in our Minnesota winter and the stability control took over when I tried to spin out. We also have a great local dealer.

Driving the vehicle is nice. It picks up speed good. The steering is not stiff. Car accessories are in easy to reach places.

Very nice SUV. Great paint job. Wife likes as much as her BMW. Only complaint I have are the front brakes, in 36000 miles we have had to have the brakes done twice. I have never had brake problem with any other vehicle that we have owned.
