Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • I like it! - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I have not taken my Equinox on any long trips, but I really like the driving feel and the comfort of the seats and interior. This vehicle seems to fit me like a nice glove. I have the four cylinder and drive it in Eco mode all the time and it has plenty of power to satisfy me. The only dislike for me is the tilt steering. I am continually trying to lower the steering when I get into the vehicle when it is already at the lowest setting available. Im thinking about seeing if I can modify the steering so I can lower it more. I really like the Nav and infotainment system. Its a costly option, but I think it is worth the cost. I previously owned a 2009 Malibu, but like this one better.

Got 33 MPG even with AWD. Seating is more comfortable than CRV and RAV4. Fun to drive.

  • Looks good, if you could only push it - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have had my Chevy for two years now and it has a whopping 23K on it. Apparently, this is the same as 200K for other cars based upon my problems with this loser vehicle! I am currently looking to get-rid of it soon before the warranty runs out. I told the dealership today, as my car was being repaired for the sixth time, that I could not afford to do all the work it need monthly. So, I am currently looking to unload it before I have to start paying big money out my pocket. Two weeks after I bought “it” the starter went out. I took a picture as it was being towed back to the dealer. Then a stylish feature is the check engine light - it stays on all the time, which will no doubt become an

  • Equinox = Nice SUV - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

I recently went out and traded in my Trailblazer SS for a new Equinox and I am very impressed. The gas mileage in this thing is phenominal for an SUV (thats not a hybrid). I travel a lot for work so I have had many chances to get a feel for it and I really like it. My wife also likes it. The ride is very comfortable and is almost ideal for long trips. For those of you who like to ride high but also want good gas mileage and a comfortable ride, this is the one for you! I wish I would have got the AWD but my gas mileage would have suffered. Also 17" rims are very nice a attractive!

  • Nightmare - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

This vehicle is by far the worst vehicle I have owned. I have had it in for serivce numerous times, and a solution is never presented. Vehicle is loud at all speeds, acceleration and power is terrible. Ride quality is very rough, and with every bump the vehicle jumps. Have had check engine light, oil light, and engine service light come on about 3-5 times a week. And as far as gas mileage, I average about 15-16mpg. This is by far the worst vehicle I have owned, I regret buying it every day. Please try to avoid this vehicle in any way.

  • Love this car but wheres my fuel going? - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Love this car, bought it in Henderson Nevada and promptly drove it to Salt Lake City 425 miles and averaged 18 mpg. I was told that we were going to get a hell of a lot better mileage than that. Anybody have any suggestions? If not I believe I am going to opt for the 60 day return policy. I bought this car looking for good fuel economy as far as that goes I am very disappointed!!!

  • Love our Equinox - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox

We had never heard of the Equinox before we went shopping for a car. I had a Lincoln Navigator to trade in and I wanted something smaller. We saw the Equinox and loved it immediately. Its sleek yet cute, fun to drive yet performance oriented, stylish yet comfortable, priced right and a great drive. After driving a Navigator, the Equinox is zippy, easy to park, and gets down the road in a smooth and easy manner. Its a great little SUV.

Does not come close to EPA ratings. average is 12.5mpg mixed road traffic (some city some country). Same trip every day with a 2002 4.3L Silverado averages 17.9 - 18.3 mpg. So why does a smaller engine, lighter vehicle stink for the same trip?? Another person at work says his wifes 2005 at 10K still averages 13 mpg. Beware! Gave up a 1998 Grand Voyager 3.8L that averaged 23mpg for same trip. Wish I would have kept the Voyager now and put 3000 dollars to fix it up.

  • Almost Perfect! - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

Considering my last car was a VW Jetta, the Equinox feels like I am driving an aircraft carrier! I love this car (well, actually, its a truck/crossover). The interior space is expansive and the seats are super comfortable for both driver, passenger, and folks in the back seat. The ride is soft does a decent job absorbing bumps in the road. The back seat adjusts so you can have extra cargo space or extra leg room in the back.

  • Best of the mid-size crossovers. - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Ordered 11/30/09. Delivered 01/30/10. LT1 w/pwr drivers seat, upgraded speakers, back-up camera. Dealer accessories included mud guards, cargo net and cargo shade. Solid vehicle. Peppy 4-cyl, esp when not in "Eco" mode. Getting 21-22 mpg in town, and engine not fully broken in yet. Large, comfy seats. Quiet cabin. Sensible dash layout. Attractive interior and exterior styling. "Eco" mode causes earlier shifting, so sometimes car will rumble at low speeds. Very few of these cars on dealers lots. Well worth the wait.
